Disney Case, Essay Example

Essay
  1. he main issues that concerned the Disney marketing and managerial personnel when launching the EuroDisney were basically to make it the greatest and most popular tourist destination in Europe. Many factors were balanced before finally picking Paris. The European market was studied on potential tourists, and Paris seamed to be the perfect choice, being the most popular European destination and concentrating a huge amount of the European population within a two-hour flight from Paris. The impressive demographic information about the region played the key role, even if this meant that the new Disney amusement park would be in northern France, which goes through snowfalls in the winter season.
  2. The key factors that influenced the first year of EuroDisney making the amusement park not meat the expectations are the following: the pricing policy was unfounded, prices for hotel rooms were way too high even compared to some of the top Paris hotels; the EuroDisney was completely American, meaning that it did not have any peculiar for France cartoon characters or peculiar French movie motives; the management was poorly informed about the peculiarities of European tourism and holiday vacations, and the traditional food services that the French required. EuroDisney did not open to Europe any innovations in special cartoon characters or attractions, the French at first did not see any significant differences with their local amusement parks.
  3. To me EuroDisney in any other part of Europe would have had similar problems as it had in France. The Disney management did not consider the peculiarities of European mentality, forbidding alcohol drinks on the territory of EuroDisney, when wine is a requirement almost to all meals in most parts of Europe. European mentality differs by the mentality from the American, take to the example the economical habits of Europeans (considering European love towards economic transportations). Europe is a small continent, and at the same time the population is situated dense, giving the Europeans a habit to spending less time on travel and weekend vacations.
  4. The success of the Tokyo Disneyland was due to the fact that Disney practically made a complete copy of the Anaheim Disneyland, only in Japan. The opening of Disneyland in Tokyo people greeted with great enthusiasm, which is mostly because at that time the Disney heroes were broadly known and quite popular among the population. The densely populated Japan was immediately a success. The population was open to the American cultural influence, when the European population was more conservative towards the American culture.
