Documentaries are produced in the form of news reports. Relatively, it could be understood that somehow, these plotted representation of facts have created a distinct indication on how the society is able to tailor itself along the fact that there are definite changes that are happening around the globe today and the society transforms along with it automatically. It could be realized through observation though that not every single point of transformation is positive. The fact is, at least 70% of the changes brought about by modern social development are considered negative in nature. In the documentary “The Anatomy of an American City”, such concept of development is presented in a way by which the adjustments in the community affect the young individuals [who are supposedly the heir of the American culture] and the way they envision development and progress as part of their major personal and social culture.
In the documentary, the presenter wanted to make sure that the audience would have an idea on what was actually happening in the United States. Relatively, the presentation points out that when it comes to improving the concept of development, it is important to seek a more distinct and more in depth source of information compared to what modern media provides the public to see. Instead of simply accepting what news programs offer, the presenter wanted to show that there is always something more than what meets the eye. In relation to this, aspects of social changes have been highlighted accordingly. One of the said elements includes social transformation due to increased rate of immigration in the country [Baltimore City in particular].
One of the many factors that characterize globalization is the increased acceptance of the relative culture of immigration. Humans have become accustomed to the desire of every individual to find a better way of living through transferring from one place towards another; trying to find the best way to live and the best opportunity that could give them the satisfaction of life, people have become more concerned about how they are going to embrace the gifts of life accordingly. This aspect of development and social transformation has been pointed out in the documentary as it provides a definite pattern on how cultural transferability becomes a common trend in most American cities at present.
What does it mean to welcome new culture into a local community? Developments often bring about a sense of transformation, not only on the physical being of the cities but also on the characterization of the individuals living in the said areas. Practically, people who have accepted the fact that their lives are bound to be affected by this matter learn to adapt to the situation. Youths, in particular, reshape their being, especially for the sake of finding a place in the community. Due to their gullible stand in the community, youths become highly involved in transformational situations that reshape the way they understand the values that are supposed to give them a better sense of what life is and what life has to offer them with. With a new culture coming from in and outside the country, the youths are bound to see matters differently, especially when it comes to making a definite twist on how they are going to embrace development; both personal and career-based, especially in terms of how they perceive the moral values that are supposed to accompany them in the way they handle the need to take advancement as part of their daily routine.
Life changes and somehow, the way on how to handle it and the challenges it offers also changes in a lot of forms. The reshaping of the moral values also indicate a sense of adjustment especially in the ways by which youths are guided through the decisions they have to make in order for them to establish better lives. In the documentary though, it could not be denied that steeping over to the more negative aspects of the issue being discussed was a distinct element that identifies well with the worth of the presentation. It should be noted that while there are distinct negative effects caused by cultural mixture in most cities in the United States such as that of Baltimore, there are also some positive effects such as economic diversity and social improvement in global connectivity that occurs especially when it comes to applying effective strategies of governance towards managing the current situations in most cities in the country.
The documentary, in conclusion, does provide a clear visual presentation of what is happening in urban areas in the United States today. The rotten condition of morals and social connections do create a distinct impact on how the world envisions the capacity of the country to handle the incoming challenges brought about by modern aspects of social growth and development. Nevertheless, it could not be denied that somehow, such condition could best be understood if its effects would be seen in a more balanced way; highlighting both the negative and positive side of the situation.
True to its sense, the world has been opened to distinct changes through time, and with the entrant of globalization and the culture it carries along with it, adjustments in the society is also a part of the transformation that needs to be given attention to. In Baltimore, the changes are quite obvious especially when it comes to determining the changing attitude of the youngest members of the community. Finding a way to resolve the issue through the application of strategic governance would best fit the picture being suggested in the documentary. People are more convinced that they have to embrace a new sense of themselves, make a distinct transformation that would allow them to jump into the trend without necessarily eroding morals that are supposed to protect them from losing the most valuable elements of human nature that establishes the perfect foundation that the community needs as it embraces modern development.
