E-Business and E-Commerce, Research Paper Example

According to various research-based studies and reports, it is evident that the major challenges influencing e-Business and e-commerce include personal computers-penetration problems, cultural and economic infrastructures as well as other regulatory challenges of online based environments.  Historically, e-Business activities and operations were started as online and internet based sales channels to promote marketing of products and services globally.  Later, legal framework, online payment systems as well as the delivery of products and services were included via technologically based procedures. In the United States, e-Business and e-Commerce operations are mostly involving ordering of online services through the use of computers. This is different from other countries such as India and China where e-Business operations are conducted through mobile phones especially through the use of SMS messages as well as printed catalogs.

In that sense, payment systems in these countries are based on COD and other agent courier delivery procedures.  In addition, the current e-Commerce is not only based on marketing channels but also include the internet and digital business activities. This is because the majority of business to business applications involves the use of the internet to promote sharing of ERP, SCM as well as CRM data and information between different business firms globally.  The ERP online and internet based services usually promote direct external access to information thus allow good and effective tracking the activities of the firm. This evolution of ERP systems has impacted the majority of internet-based banking operation positively thus promotes business activities including communication systems, customer shopping habits and the use of credit facilities in global firms.

Furthermore, according to the journal of Internet banking and commerce reports, the promotion of economic, political, cultural and marketing activities are directly related to effective e-business operations. Therefore,   the management of global firms should adopt these e-Business structures to support the current e-business technologies.  This will promote the creation of new business opportunities in the global business operations through the use of the internet.  For example, firm advertisement and online delivery of goods and services.

Despite this, the major challenges facing online business operation include limited financial resources, lack of qualified IT personnel and low government support towards e-Business activities and operations. For example, in Pakistan majority of people are economically poor leading to a limited number of firms involving in e-business operations.

However, the importance of e-business cannot be underestimated in the global business operations. Thus, there is a need for the promotion of enabling technology, reducing online security problems as well as developing of digital knowledge through training of firm management and other IT stakeholders. This will promote movement from conventional to e-business in various global firms and also reduce threats and promote e-business and computer based opportunities globally.
