Early Childhood and Secondary School, Case Study Example

I observed an eight year old female student with a Down’s syndrome disability and discerned her cognitive learning skills.

The purpose of this study was to determine if she had progressed with her learning skills over the past three years and at what learning level she was at this year.
The idea is to measure the concept with valid concepts and reliable and systematic measures. I did so using flash cards, sound mechanisms and a small test which measures verbal comprehension, numerical ability, visual pursuit, visual speed and accuracy, space visualization, numerical reasoning and verbal reasoning.

The results influence the outcome of the learning curve for the child and what he will be taught for the year. The IQ score was included in the report as well as the cognitive and visual skills. The verbal skills were included in the secondary report.
The background information essential to the report were family hereditary issues and other learning disabilities. Progress made by the child was essential to the learning progress of the child. Accommodations of power point and verbal communication aids were made available to the teachers. Social implications of allowing the student to take part in a normal classroom for one hour per week was essential for developing normal social skills.
