Description of the Foreign policy issues

The foreign policy issue explored in this research paper is the economic Sanctions by the United States on China over the Uyghur abuses. Economic sanctions by America are the financial penalties that are imposed on China by America and other countries. America is the country that sanctions China due to the large number of businesses that are these countries undertake with China. United States penalizes China for some of the things that China does which are unfavorable to the economy of the US (Hoffbauer et al., 1). One of the factors that have made the United States sanction China is because the US is a superpower, and the government of the United States is very considerate. It assists people in other countries who have been faced with a challenge. There are instances when a country is faced with the challenge of lacking the requirements of the citizens of different countries. Therefore, there is a need to assist such people since they are the ones who administer the country when they are also faced with challenges. This paper derives an exclusive analysis of sanctions that are imposed on China by America over the Uyghur abuses and which countries have sanctioned China and which have not.

Some of the issues that affect people in other countries include wars and catastrophes such as drought, floods, and famine, which require the two countries to help each other and get the victims out of the challenges they have found themselves in. The United States of America also experienced an earthquake in 2019. Since many countries came in to help the citizens, they are also obliged to help people who suffer disasters and other issues such as pandemics. Therefore, the USA should consider the help they were given by other countries such as China and avoid sanctioning China. The assistance of that nature enables the two countries to build a good relationship, enabling the government of both countries to have a good working relationship. Sanctions that the US penalizes China. Economic Sanctions by the government of the United States are governed by a competent board of management that decides on the people in different countries who should be sanctioned and those who shouldn’t be approved. The government has many people interested in assisting people who have been faced with a challenge, and therefore they contribute towards the achievement of the best results from the program.

The government comes up with a strategy to make sure that they make the right decision on the countries that should be sanctioned, China. The move also makes it possible for the government to ensure that sanctioning is done in the best way possible. There are situations where the government through the officials who are tasked with the responsibility of coming up with the information that is required for sanctioning China and other countries do it in an ineffective way. The act makes the government lack proper records regarding the information that is required for the government to undertake the sanctioning by America to China.

Literature Review

Pekin 2018, in his article, when do imposing economic sanctions work? A critical review of the sanction’s effectiveness literature explains some of the government’s areas to raise the amount of money used to provide foreign assistance from the sanctioning done on China. The author explains that the government sets aside a specific amount of money to assist the people faced with the challenges. When the government sanctions China, it has the statistics and the data necessary to initiate the economic sanctioning. Therefore, the government is always prepared to assist other countries. The author also explains how some people criticize the program and make it run as it is not supposed to. Criticism demotivates the government and the people tasked with ensuring that all the money and assistance that should be channeled to the people has been made in the best way possible. The author also explains some of the factors considered before the government today that ensure that the sanctions are done efficiently before assisting the people affected. Some of these factors are beyond the control of the people who manage these institutions and, therefore, decide because they do not have any other alternative. The only gap in the study that McBride has done is that he has not explained how the government collects sanctions they distribute to the people affected by disasters in other countries. The issue of how the government collects foreign assistance from the citizens to decide how to impose the sanctions on the people will be considered in my research paper.

In the article, U. S. Foreign Policy and Human Rights Violations in Latin America: A Comparative Analysis of sanctions, Lars explains some of the limitations that face the government of the United States when it comes to matters relating to countries that sanction China Foreign sanctions by the USA government is one of the factors that should be considered before the government decides on the extent of sanctions to impose on China. The author explains that there are some countries that the government of the United States cannot offer their support, meaning that there are reasons that made the government conclude that those countries do not deserve the assistance the United States gives them. As explained by the author, one of the limitations of the economic sanctions by the government of the United States to China. There is no way America can be assisting a government where the leaders and the military attack America the way they want. Any country that offers to help another one due to a challenge they might face considers respect and their relationship with the victims. However, the author did not explain whether the American government still has a good working relationship with China even after the economic sanctions by the US. My research paper will consider China’s relationship with America after the imposition of economic sanctions.

In his article, Economic sanctions threaten population health: the case of Iran, Aloosh et al., (2019) explain some of the government’s plans to be followed when sanctioning the US. As described by the author, one of the things that will happen is that the private sector will benefit a lot individually from the government’s reforms introduced in the industry. The fact that the assistance has not been done forcefully by the citizens, they tend to give many things that they do no use. Therefore, there is no way that the government can be the one starling from the public. There are cases where the people tasked with ensuring that the assistance reaches the people it is supposed to go then sue the wrong leaders and people who work in the government. My research project will determine and explain some things that can be done to ensure that the private sector does not benefit from the reforms on sanctioning introduced by the government.

Political Theory of Economic Sanctions

The political theory of foreign sanctions expounds much on the information that the government of the United States needs regarding the economic sanctions the country imposes on China. The theory explains that the government of the United States has its reasons that they take into consideration before offering assistance to foreign nations. One of the political factors that the government of the United States considers is that they want to get the dominance in the world that they need as superpowers on that the bargaining power that the country has when it comes to political matters is maintained. The US government dominates other countries such as China through the sanctions they impose on them. Bargaining power is significant to a nation since the government can delegate and explain their challenges and interests when it comes to forums discussing their challenges. A country such as the United States is not usually interested in the assistance they may require from other countries. There are no countries with more resources than the United States when it comes to helping. Therefore, the desire for prestige makes the country’s government decide on some things they can do to maintain the name and the bargaining power they have when it comes to international issues.

The theory also explains that the government of the United States does not have any other chance where it can dominate and show its power to the developing nations. Therefore, they aver to establish their dominance when sanctioning them. The developing nations do not have any choice but to accept the sanctions by the United States, which makes them have a low voice regarding matters affecting all countries globally. Countries with a say in international deliberation are the counters that assist the developing countries when the need arises. The benefit of having a voice when it comes to international matters is that the country’s government is in a position to explain some of the big deals and interests that will benefit both the citizens and the management hugely. The only things that the developing countries can negotiate are matters relating to what should be done to improve people’s living standards. Countries like America are mainly concerned with how they will make the country have more powers and stand as a superpower that will enable them to dominate all other countries in the world. The theory also explains how the developing countries also stand to benefit from the assistance America grants them.

Hypothesis/Predictions

One thing that can be learned from the political theory of economic sanctions is that America and other countries that sanction other countries do it to achieve specific objectives that they could not have succeeded in were it not for the sanctions. The developing nations and the nations that a disaster has struck have complete knowledge that America is designed to get other benefits from the sanctions that they impose on them. There are other countries that are set to befit form the imposition of taxes on China. The benefits that these countries get from the sanctions they impose on America are used to provide foreign assistance to the poor nations. Still, since they require them now, they accept the assistance they are given. Even companies and other organizations have developed a strategy for imposing the amount collected by the US government as sanctions. Still, since they do not want to make it that they want to promote their products, they claim that they are assisting the people in those countries.

Research Strategy

In general, case study research seeks information from various sources where the government has recorded the information. Therefore, the information that is obtained from the records is truthful and accurate. The transmission employs a variety of data formats, including observations, surveys, interviews, and document analysis. An exclusive survey is critical in research since the obtained data will be accurate. Furthermore, the survey is essential to studying the economic sanctions since the data received by the team that engages in the survey will be used to determine how the surveys and the analysis of the data will be made. Therefore, it is evident that the data obtained through the study provides the information necessary for the research. Consequently, it is easy to determine how the sanctions can be reformed and how the data can be used to determine what best can be done by the government to make the economic sanctioning on China effective.

Data can be either qualitative or quantitative, or a combination of the two. The case study research provides for a comprehensive and multifaceted examination of the topic of economic sanctions by the USA on China. Qualitative data will make it possible for the government to determine the steps that should be taken to ensure that sanctioning is effective. This will be a very effective method since firsthand information will be obtained from the qualitative and quantitative data obtained from the research. Questionnaires will also be sent to prominent government officials who know some of the factors that affect the economic sanctioning by the government. The response of around ten people will clarify whether the citizens are happy with the way America sanctions China. The following graph shows the sanctions imposed on the US government on China.

The strategies and the steps that should be taken by the government as explained by the government officials should be taken seriously and the information recorded since they are the people who know the sector more than anybody else and all that it takes for the government to assist the foreign countries. Action-oriented research will also enable the team to get accurate data regarding the topic of economic sanctions. The data will also be collected from the internet by the research team. The obtained data should then be appropriately analyzed to ensure that all facts are correctly gathered.

Summary

It can be summarized that the economic sanctioning by the American government is one of the programs that have assisted the developing nations in getting the necessities that they require for their citizens because the money penalized has been sent to help people in the developing countries. The programs have been run well by the management tasked with making sure that the financial assistance has reached the people who deserve to get the service. However, some factors have proved to be a challenge to the economic sanctioning by the government, which has been beneficial to the countries that have participated in the program. America has established to get the prestige and respect they want from China due to the economic sanctions by the government. According to Gould, (12), other countries such as Russia that do not sanction China due to the benefits that they receive form the efforts of China to grow their economy. The factor that has enabled the program’s success is that the developing countries have leaders who are very humbled since they want assistance and therefore have not been mindful of the impacts the economic sanctions will have on the citizens or the government of the country. It can also be summarized that leader tend to undertake different activities with a purpose that can only be achieved if they involve themselves with programs such as economic sanctions from the money for economic sanctions. Therefore, the two countries have achieved the targets they have set to achieve and the benefits they are set to gain from the participants of the economic sanctions from the money obtained from foreign sanctions by the American government on China (Lukin, 23). The following is a graph showing China trade balance after sanctioning by USA.

Analysis

The economic sanction by America on China is one of the foreign economic policies that have enabled America and other rich countries to dominate the developing countries. The dominance that America has achieved from the economic sanctions they give to developing countries has led the country to achieve the political benefits that the leaders have set to perform. No country has leaders who plan to fail, and therefore, they only plan to accomplish the objective they have developed to achieve. These objectives sometimes cannot be achieved if the government does not engage in economic sanctions, and therefore this is why many governments involve themselves in the program. Therefore, many countries involve themselves in programs related to economic sanctions, which makes them achieve the targets they have set.

Although good relationships are made between the two countries that assist each other from the amount of money collected from sanctions, some challenges are experienced when initiating the economic sanctioning between the two countries. One of the challenges that have proved to frustrate the efforts of the USA to sanction China is that there has been a lot of corruption from the leaders who have been tasked with the responsibility of making sure that all activities regarding sanctions on China have been done in a good way. Embezzlement of funds makes it difficult for the government to raise the amount of money it should grow from the economic sanctions imposed on China.

The other challenge that has proved to frustrate the efforts of the USA in sanctioning China is the desire of the American government to achieve the objective of being a superpower which makes China uncooperative when it comes to matters on the program (Foot et al., 39). The reason that makes most the people and leaders refuse to be cooperative is that they believe that America and the other rich nations will demand some things in return after they have exempted countries like China from the economic sanctions. Foreign monetary policy economic sanctions are the sectors in the American government that are given a lot of focus because the government raises a considerable amount of money from the sanctions imposed on China.
