Essay

Edna Hibel is the only contemporary, impressionistic and also figurative female artist in America who has a museum. A partnership between Florida Atlantic University and Edna’s Art Foundation has provided numerous resources to the students of FAU, the faculty and also the entire community surrounding the campus. Nancy Walls (the museum’s director) reported that the state of Florida requested Edna to relocate the museum to FAU where art programs would be offered. Although Edna has helped Jupiter Campus in education and also providing the students with opportunities in art work, the University has not helped in any way. Carol Davis (the director of the gallery) reported that FAU only collects trash and also vacuum sweep the museum’s floor. FAU promised to construct a parking lot in the museum but it has been seven years down the line and they have not made any effort to help. The reason that FAU gives for not constructing the parking lot is that it is very expensive when staking the area where the construction is to be made. Edna cut back the work unit’s work hours and many employees work as volunteers. The work force is not paid for almost 1 and ½ years because the museum doesn’t have enough money for its own upkeep. It has been reported that each employee works one day in a week. The museum would close if it ran out of money to pay insurance and also the bills. The museum building has been paid for by Edna for the next forty three years. Carol Davis reports that the museum will be kept open whether Edna is alive or not. Mrs. Adra Farris the tour director in the museum suggests that the museum will be better off in the County of North Palm Beach. Edna is almost 93years old and the museum is planning to hold event celebrations on her birthday and also a concert for young people called the “New Day Singers”. Carole Belcher will direct the free promenade concert which is often open to the public. Edna Hibel is recovering from a surgery that is intended to repair her hip. She plans to carry on with painting for pleasure.
