Case study level A case 1

At Rosa Parks Elementary School a first-grade student by the name of Savannah was assessed by teacher Ms. Hudson. The student’s universal screening scores were below the average at the start of beginning-of-year benchmark. This was indicative of struggling student in the reading skill. Consequently, Savannah’s reading performance was monitored for seven weeks with a goal of improving the score to 15 words per minute. The Vanderbilt Word Identification Fluency probe was administered to determine the reading inadequacy. Interventionists’ activities included reviewing progress monitoring protocol, drawing of progress graphs and goal setting techniques (Skow & Brown, 2014).

Case Study level A case 2

At Mayflower Elementary School, Grayson a second grade student was administered a universal screening test by his teacher Ms. Doran. Upon completing o fthe test it was discovered his score was below the benchmark. Consequently, he was monitored by Ms. Doran for eight consecutive weeks. At the end of that period, the school assessment team met to discuss Grayson’s data.  With rigorous instructions Grayson successfully complete Tier 2 instruction. Another eight weeks instruction continued with awesome results. Possible instructions included an overview of the progress monitoring protocol, graphing and student’s goal setting and performance evaluation. Below are graphs showing Grayson’s 16 week goal 50 words per minute and the eight data points
