The Process to be Improved: is the time spent checking in patients and passing information onto other healthcare professionals.

The business process in stage 1requires a significant amount of time to be spent checking in the patient and passing the information onto other doctors who need to know the information. Allowing patients to use a program to enter their own information and where all medical personnel can access it is a great tool to cut down time and efforts. The template enables usability engineers to effectively communicate the results of EHR usability testing.

The major hardware, software and communication would be to add it to the existing computer equipment and add two patient computers in the waiting room where they can input their own information. “a web based Electronics Medical Records(EMR) that is offered to practices as a Software-as-a-Service(Saas)” (ONC HIT, 2014).

The implementation of this process will improve the process for patient care. “According to the NIST Guide to the Processes Approach for Improving the Usability of Electronic Health Records, EHRs should support a process that provides a high level of usability for all users. The goal is for users to interact with the system effectively, efficiently, and with an acceptable level of satisfaction” (ONC HIT, 2014). It provides a better quality of care and safety for the patients care and the health care professional to ensure that medical efforts are not compromised based on previous health history.
