Email and Social Media for Business Communication, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 453

Essay

To tech support about an employee’s computer that has been infected by a virus.

While for this purpose, it might be okay to send an email or to try to correspond via chat, a look at the company’s wiki page probably references the correct steps to take in order to alleviate this employee’s issue.  These pages are often well-documented and made so that they are easy to follow.  In this way, the documentation provided by the company can help to provide results effectively.

From HR to all employees, explaining the changes to the company health plan in the coming year.

This is a fairly fact based message.  Unless the changes are incredibly drastic, and could potentially cause harm to the lives of the employees, it would seem that the best thing to do would be to send out an email in the form of a monthly or quarterly newsletter in order to provide this information.  It does not seem as though there would be any negative connotations to the email otherwise.

From the CEO of a large company to employees, explaining negative news regarding the company appearing on national news channels.

A company-only Facebook or Twitter account would be a good place to deliver this news.  This is because the ability of the platforms to create groups allows them to garner a sense of togetherness.  By doing so, the CEO can hope to deliver the negative news in a context that creates a sense of unity among the employees.  A Facebook or Twitter account would be good for doing this, as it promotes the identification of the company as well as loyalty.

From a gym manager to clients about temporarily closing the pool in the gym.

While this might be regarded as negative, it would seem that the best way for this manager to get his information out would be through some type of microblog or forum on their website.  In this way, those visiting their page will see the issue posted as a news bulletin and can easily check back to see if the gym has reopened.

A message from a professional association to members about the coming annual conference.

The best way to address this association would be through a blog that has to do with the conference itself.  Many members of associations regularly visit the blog sites for their interests, and would be able to see this information posted on the site.  Often, these blogs can be an effective and quick way to inform those interested in a specific event that might be coming up in the near future.
