Emotional Intelligence in My Organization, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 308

Essay

There is no doubt that emotional intelligence affects the efficiency and productivity of an organization and so it is very crucial that workers are mentally fit to work, especially that my organization is a farm and there could be accidents that could endanger the lives of workers if they are not mentally stable. Research has shown that when people are worried about something, they tend to make more mistakes like forgetting to do something or doing something they should not have done. Teamwork and motivation play a major role in the emotional intelligence of my workers. When my employees and I come together to talk about a job at hand and how we can handle it efficiently, I discover that ideas come in from different sides because everybody thinks differently and therefore there is a more diverse pool of ideas to work with. Also I recognize hardworking workers regularly so as to motivate them and the other employees to work.

Furthermore, I make sure there is an opportunity outside of the work-area for employees to get together and know each other because it is in a relaxed environment that you get to know people more. I do this by organizing get-togethers like dinners, barbeques and road trips to bigger farms amidst others. My goal by doing this is to achieve a comfortable environment for everybody because research has also shown that we tend to work more with people we are familiar with, just as people are more efficient when with family than when they are with strangers. It is this atmosphere that I aim to create in my organization, a familiar one and not a strange one.

In conclusion, emotional intelligence promotes outstanding performance and cheerful enthusiasm and this is what I have strived and is still striving to achieve on my farm, as this reduces accidents and increases efficiency.
