Epigenesis, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 284

Essay

Expression of majority of genes is a factor of distinctive circumstances of environment and majority of the genes are even never expressed at all. The implication of epigenesis is the influence posed by environmental factors on genetic code expression. The environmental influence on genetic code expression in any organism is responsible for unfolding development that follows some distinctive sequential steps that ultimately leads to differentiation of cells and subsequent organ formation (Marianne & Holger, 169-175). There is a notable interaction between genes in animals and their surrounding environment that can be traced back from the time of conception. Consequently, the interaction of genes and the environment plays a critical role in heritability. The influenced attributed to environmental factors is awesome which starting point is usually at the stage of conception with each consecutive stage requiring the contribution of environmental influence for any meaningful action of the genes (Marianne & Holger, 169-175).

Transmission of information from one generation to the other is a very important issue in heritability and it is achieved through epigenetic inheritance. In the course of this process the DNA sequence is never interrupted and therefore no changes are involved. It is therefore possible to modulate gene expression with no change in DNA by the means of methylation. Genes therefore needs to be activated and this activation is done by environmental factors (Marianne & Holger, 169-175). The conventional perception of epigenetics extends beyond the notion of heredity together with gene regulation and also shapes our thoughts concerning evolution, development as well as genetics. Epigenetics requires high profile reflection concerning genome interpretation and integration of its context in multiple surrounding.
