Description: Ethics Officer

Ethics Officer Purpose: Maintains and enhances the organization’s” ethical practices “by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and” ethics” policies, programs and practices” (Monster).

Ethics Officer Job Duties:  Forms an ethics advisory committee.  Develops, maintains, and revises as necessary an ethics program for the organization. Develops and includes in the employee’s  welcome package an abridged copy of the organization’s Ethics Policies and Practices. An ethical officer “aligns the practices of a workplace with the stated ethics and beliefs of that workplace, holding people accountable to ethical standards”(wiseGEEK). The consequences of violations of any ethical conduct will be clearly stated in the Ethics Manual, and will be enforced by the ethics officer.  In conjunction with the Human Services Officer, there will be a comprehensive manual dealing with employees’ rights and obligations.  An employee handbook should also be part of the employee’s welcome package.  Ethics officers should have books on legal issues and various state and federal laws.  As part of senior management, the ethics officer will attend, as requested, in house, in town, domestic and international meetings.

Ethics Officer Required Education and Experience:  A BA degree in human services, social sciences, or human resources plus one year experience in a similar position.

Ethics Officer Compensation:  Starting salary is $85,000.00 plus a full benefit package.

Vacation the first three years will be three weeks per annum after which it will increase by one week every three years.  Paid sick leave is 1 ½ days per month. Personal days:  ½ day month.
