Five Whole Child Tenets, Reaction Paper Example

Pages: 2

Words: 504

Reaction Paper

Back in my days as a student in the elementary school, I had an experience with the five whole children tenets as the initiative had developed to ensure that all the students are healthy and learn in a safe environment. It also ensured that every student became engaged in the learning process and that they had support from experienced people and that we all become challenged to work towards success.

I think this emphasis plays an essential role in the learning course as it ensures that students get the best out of their learning, have all the requirements, and gain something that will make them achieve progress in the future. Therefore, I support this tenet as they go a long way in helping people realize and achieve their dreams and ensure that all students learn in a very conducive environment. Furthermore, it is essential that parents are educated and informed of the importance of giving their children full support and ensuring that they are brought up in friendly environments, which will go a great way in helping them achieve academic success.

Question Two

There are different causes of mental, physical, and emotional illnesses, and these illnesses can directly affect a student’s learning outcomes and their expected success levels. This is because students may experience stress-related issues developed from their different health conditions that may affect their preparedness, willingness, and desire to learn. As a result, they may fail to be fully attentive to what they are doing.

Some factors that may affect the cause of emotional illnesses are family conflicts and lack of access to the basic requirements, which may also lead to physical and mental illnesses. Students who went through such experiences found it hard to concentrate on learning. These greatly affected their learning outcomes because they were not healthy and were not provided with a safe learning environment.

Parents need to ensure that their children have the best experience as they learn by ensuring that they are healthy and also given a safe environment as they continue learning. Students who experience physical, emotional, and mental health issues should also be encouraged to open up to be helped. There should be programs designed and implemented to help such students.

Question Three

This page explains how to build and improve cultural competency, as well as the measures that must be taken. First, organizations should have a vision for why they want to improve cultural competence, the values they aim to attain by doing so, and the level of cultural competence that the organization hopes to achieve at the person, organizational, program, or community level.

Organizations should also look at the community’s cultural context in which they are operating and their organization, what expectations they have, the stereotypes that exist within that specific community, and the cultures represented in their organization. Addressing cultural competence is essential for organizations as it helps improve the quality of services they offer (Jogen et al., 2018).
