Essay

Introduction

Frankenstein is a monster story that was written in the 19th century by Mary Shelley. This science based horror novel was meant to unravel the activities of the underworld creatures. The story line of this novel depicts such horrifying and frightening moments especially when travelling in the ocean during the night. It is due to this that this novel has gained many interest among literary critics almost two centuries since its first publication.

Research o objective

The major research objective of this novel is to depict graphically the most horrifying and dramatic events that unfold in the story line of this novel. This is to bring in the true picture of the original thematic concerns of the author – Mary Shelley.

Literary section

The arrival of Henry Clerval is considered as the climax of this novel. There were dramatic encounters with the monsters and other characters mentioned in the novel. Henry goes ahead to confront them and demand his fair share of the treasurer. The first section of my graphic novel will mainly concentrate on the arrival of Henry. This is because this is one of the most dramatic scenes of the novel. In the second scene, I will base my graphic novel on Victor’s obsession. This is mainly because there seems to be a weighty thematic concern in this scenario. Never again in the whole novel that we can see depiction of obsession like in this particular scene. Victor is so obsessed that he is ready to risk his entire life just to get what he wants. Finally, I intend to conclude my novel with graphical representations on the scene where the monsters hungrily fight for their survival. This is to show that even in the underworld, the creatures there also have hierarchies that they fight so desperate to maintain.

Conclusion

These are the main scenes I would like to include in my graphical novel. Of course, there will be other supporting sceneries just to make the story flow. Whereas I have taken utmost care to depict this imageries as simple and more human as possible, it is good to accept that some sceneries may be scaring.
