Research Paper

This paper highlights the element of women discrimination based on the pigmentation of their skin. The paper analyses the various issues that foster discrimination of women in the society from the old days to the contemporary days.

In the social facet, gender discrimination has become a common place topic in every societal setting since time memorial. Societies across the world have perpetuated the practice for many years. This issue has led to the effect of gender stereotyping. The female sex in the human race has been stereotyped in every society. The women race has been discriminated depending on how they dress the colors they wear and the hair make up they put. The discrimination even digs dipper into the elements of tribe and race. Particular women from particular tribes or race portray different pictures depending on how they dress.

Women have been discriminated on the basis of their skin pigmentation and beauty between them is defined by skin color. The light skinned woman is perceived by many people across the world to the real expression of beauty in women. In this light, women are treated as property that can be used to compliment a trade or an agreement. The case examples include scenarios where African American and Latin women are used in the hip hop videos to illustrate how they can be used to send a message that their main role in such videos is to convey the message that they can be used for sex. The black girls of the today tend to suffer from a low self esteem based on these circumstances. Despite the fact some of the women have stood up to reconstruct the negative message that is displayed in most hip hop videos some of them have succumbed to the temptations of money and failed to communicate their intent message.

Women across the world try to portray the intent message that is expected from them by the society and that has laid much emphasize on their appearance. There are also disparities among the societies across the world on the how they view women, for instance other societies like slim women, others prefer tall women, other rate shortness as the best rating point and others like the stout types. In certain scenarios others are more inclined to particular body parts for instance in North America men prefer women with bigger breasts, and in other countries of South America men put more emphasize on the size of the buttocks.

The element of treating women like commodities that can be used to seal trade deals and even agreements started during the ancient times and still prevails to date in some cultures across the world. In many traditional settings men who had beautiful daughters had the privilege of getting free labor from the men who aspired to marry their daughters, emperor leaders also used their daughter to seal partnership agreements between them and to enhance the peaceful co-existence in their midst. In this case even the biblical stories are not an exemption for instance Moses, the biblical hero had to work as a herds man for his father in Jethrow so as to marry Miriam.

Societies today tend to move from the element of treating women like commodities but the most prominent issue is still the issue of appearance based on color and size. Even though men have also tended to be sensitive about the issue of appearance where some of men tend to change their skin color and body size, the issue of appearance is more predominant in the women sex. Some of the videos on shown YouTube convey how companies that make bleaching creams are also targeting some of the men population across the world. The issue of color among women varies from each and every society across the world. In some countries job advertisements tend to favor women of light skin color than the dark skinned colors, for instance comedians and even movies have capitalized on this difference that is rooted on the skin pigmentation among the women. The strive for light color has led many women including Africa to go for skin bleaching creams that have subsequent damages to the skin and other body parts. In most videos shown in You Tube about discoloring their skin, the main information being communicated is to enhance their self esteem in the society.

There are certain circumstances when the issue of skin pigmentation becomes complicated especially in scenarios where certain people tend to discriminate others for being too light especially for those who have parents from different continents of the world like Africa and Japan or African American and China. Other trends show that in some parts of the world light skin is not preferred like fairness especially in China where the perception towards beauty is changing due to the impact of creams that have this effect on the skin tone. Research shows that in various parts of the world certain countries attach things like the skin color, body size and hair style in determining their preferred tastes of the woman they like.

The human race needs to change their perception towards women and eliminate the issue of discrimination that is based on the skin pigmentation so as to enhance the self esteem of the girls and women in the society. People should be proud of their looks and accept how they were created. Despite the fact that some countries are struggling to change the way people should view the element of appearance based on the skin color.
