Hamlet Homework, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 220

Essay

Exercise 1

  1. Hamlet makes his final revelations about mortality within the graveyard.
  2. The graveyard settings’ function is operative in several ways.
  3. First, Hamlet’s continuing confrontation with death is emphasized here in a highly dramatic way.
  4. Second, the digging up of burred motives Hamlet has been concerned about from the beginning is related to the literal digging of a grave.
  5. The burred sculls which the gravedigger unearths are like the secrets Hamlet has directed his investigative efforts to.
  6. Finally, Hamlet’s realization of his earthly limits is appropriate to a setting with an evident abundance of anonymous bones in it.

Exercise 2

The author uses a lot of figures of speech when talking about the topic. She refers to skin as “a kind of space suit”, “bubble”, something “alive” and “breathing”, referring to the internal organs as “thick red jams and jellies inside us”. Her writings contain images that help to visualize the topic, as well as comparisons, that make the scientific information understandable and entertaining. She creates a clear image of skin main function, emphasizing its importance without use of scientific terminology. She also uses examples that make the picture more vivid, and the information more proved. The use of figurative language makes the text an easy one to read, and the knowledge of the topic that the author is sharing can be easily memorized and recollected in future.
