Hiring Dilemma, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 507

Essay

Hiring the right personnel for a certain kind of position in the company is a crucial part of establishing the foundation of the organization. Being able to find the right person to fill in a responsibility shall provide the entire organization a chance to see through the different points of developments that they could take into consideration especially in relation to the growth of their business in the industry that they are enjoined with. In the case that is being defined in this point of analysis, there are two primary dilemmas that need to be given attention to. One is that of the fact that the applicant being eyed upon does not have the proper requirement or skill for the position opened. Nonetheless it is also considered that the same applicant does have ample knowledge about the industry and the closest competition that the business has to deal with. The issue of which of these identifying elements of the applicant should be valued best in consideration with the process of making decision on the case at hand is a crucial part of the hiring process given attention to herein.

One particular option in solving the issue is hiring the applicant due to the knowledge that she has over the competitor of the company. Notably, her involvement with US Silt & Sand makes her a supposedly “secret ace” of the company against their competition. It could be understood that with her knowledge of the works and plans of the other company, sales could dramatically increase especially that the business would have an edge against the other. However, in considering this, it should be understood that the understanding and knowledge of the applicant about the other company is limited hence does have a limited benefit for the organization.

On the other hand, if the decision would be to hire an applicant who can actually handle the problem on sales and increase the revenue of the products of the business in the market. This would not only result to a short time progress but a gradual process of embracing the culture of development in the organization as implemented by the new hired sales personnel. Believably, it is with proper application based on a good portfolio that a person could be entrusted with a responsibility as big as that of the sales revenue increase that is needed for the business’ growth.

Notably, the decision that shall be utilized to resolve this problem shall affect the most considerable operations of the organization especially in terms of increasing profit from sales. In this regard, it is rather important to make sure that the solution shall be an established culture and not a short-time response to the issue at hand. This would provide the business a chance to take on a more relative position that would cause the business to thrive longer in the industry in a more efficient manner. Strengthening the sales operation through hiring a competent personnel to handle the job should then be considered as an important element of decision making in this case.
