Overview

The committee hopes to gather a pool of information to highlight some of the most pressing issues that face your assigned country locally and internationally.

As the envoy, you need to produce a clear and concise description of your country, including its recent history and current economic and political status, as well as key issues facing the country in the following areas: migration/immigration/religion/ethnicity, women, environment, crime and disease. Keep in mind that to be effective you need solid, academic research and current data to back up your findings.

Population: According to page three of the 2011 census, 7,364,570 people live in Bulgaria, making it the 98th largest country in the world.

This information will be divided into the three research papers due in Module 2, Module 3 and Module 5. The objective in gathering this information is to clarify to the committee the key issues currently facing your assigned country. This clarification will help prepare your country for the current pressures and needs of belonging to a global community. It will also assist the committee as its members seek resources and funds to meet those needs, which will be summarized in the last of the three papers.

These documents will be used to consider the most pressing local and national issues that should be addressed to ensure integration into the globalizing world and ensure human rights and peace in the process. In other words, the long term goal is to minimize the negative impacts of globalization and increase the positive outcomes. You should follow the guidelines for content in the action items for each paper. The conclusion of each paper should summarize what you feel are the most important issues to bring to the committee’s attention and what you feel are the main implications that should be addressed to ensure the peaceful and sustainable development and growth of your country within an international network.

There are many online database resources available from the Franklin University Nationwide Library. These resources, which include articles, books, magazines, and journals, are available whenever you have an Internet connection, and are guaranteed to be reliable and accurate. Do not rely on “Google-ing” or Wikipedia or another encyclopedia for research papers. Also, when writing ANY research assignment at Franklin, bear in mind the following:

1. Write clearly and logically. This happens most effectively when you create an outline and a draft before writing the paper.

2. Use concrete language. (Concrete language refers to objects or events perceived through the senses, or objects or events we can see, hear, feel, taste or smell.)

3. Use information from other sources effectively (that means citing it correctly, both in-text and on the reference page according to APA guidelines).

4. Synthesize information from other sources – don’t just copy it from the original. Click here for additional help on paraphrasing and quoting. You must have a good reason to quote directly from a resource.

1. In module one, you were assigned a country by your professor. Choose one of the following methods to explore your assigned country and the area in which it is located on its continent:

Option 1: Use Google Earth ( a free satellite imaging software program) to view your assigned country and familiarize yourself with your country, its geographic neighbors, and its major landmarks. Follow these instructions to download the program.

Option 2: Use a traditional map to locate your country. Familiarize yourself with your country, its geographic neighbors, and its major landmarks.

2. Download the Grading Rubric before you start to write your research paper.

3. Remembering the audience created in the overview of the assignment, write a 4- to 5- page paper, using APA format, in which you respond to the following questions or statements: a.Research and examine the history of the 20th century for your assigned country. Summarize the recent history of the country and identify major events that may have had an impact on the country’s development.

b. Give a review of the current economic system in your assigned country. Answer the question of how this system seems to be a reflection of the history and culture of the country.

c. Based on your research of the history, politics and economics and the analysis of these topics in your paper, write a conclusion that discusses what you feel are the most important challenges facing your country as a part of the global community.

4. Include a reference page and relevant internal citations to support your paper. This should include all of the works that you cited, using APA citation guidelines.

5. Submit your assignment to Turnitin.com at least 48 hours before your class starts. Respond to any feedback you received from this system.

6. Submit the final version of your research paper to the Drop Box under the Communications pull down menu on your course website.

 Essay:

The Republic of Bulgaria, a parliamentary republic within Southeast Europe, is a unitary state that consists of nine provinces. This parliamentary democracy, a nation by which the the prime minister holds the most powerful executive status, is the 14th-largest European country (at 110,994 square kilometres, or 42,855 sq mi). The same year the U.S.S.R. folded, 1991, the Republic of Bulgaria became a democracy.

Moving on, the more recent move from a mechanized and industrialized culture to a digital society has fundamentally modified what they consider these key-phrases: occupation, employment, profession, career, assignment, and vocation. What’s nice, of course, is that advancement and promotional encouragement is much more easily attainable, and will continue to increase as the world’s economy strengthens from quite a low from which we all currently are rebuilding. This loss of revenue they are now recovering from and facing will be compensated soon enough. 

Salaries within any sector do not fluctuate too greatly, and there is always safety to be found in numbers (that is, numbers of additional operative employees within any workforce). Therefore, the self-confidence and composure that comes from this assurance instills a sense of serenity and calmness that is inductive to production and progress. Several traditional work ethics and procedures have become entirely unidentifiable to young people entering the workforce of today. In fact, even folks resuming employment after some time off, even a few years, must learn an entirely new code of principles and behaviors.

II. Body Paragraph One: Reasons People Change

Bulgaria became a member of the United Nations in 1955 and since 1966 has been a non-permanent member of the Security Council three times, most recently from 2002 to 2003 (Berg-Andersson, 2012). This rapidly advancing technological world seems too rapid and instant to keep track of what has become outdated and discontinued. Everything that was understood as recently developed or modern as recently as three to five years ago is now considered unfashionable, behind the times, old hat, antiquated, square, passe, or outdated. What’s more, all the most recent technology that we know as of today will be outdated within three to five years from now. Contemporary, modern, and cutting-edge fits the lingo of the 21st century. 

III. Body Paragraph Two: The Benefits of Autonomy and Self-Reliance

“Traditional Bulgarian culture contains mainly Thracian, Slavic and Bulgar heritage, along with Greek, Roman, Ottoman, Persian and Celtic influences” (Berg, 2012). Our perception of loyalty and commitment has shifted and is shifting. The prolific and energetic focus is now placed on the self, as opposed to solely appeasing the supervisor in charge at the moment. Employment issues will be more focused inward, therefore, and the person who made any error will the only one accountable. Thus, if the mistake is not fixed, then that individual will face the heat as opposed to sneaking around and desperately being able to search for someone else to blame. This sensational pace of change is being catapulted by technological innovation and it offers exhilarating opportunities and stimulating options for conglomerates, corporations, and individuals to make working life more satisfactory, serene, untroubled, and expeditious. 

IV. Paragraphs Three & Four (Collective): Self-Determination

“Bulgaria has one of the lowest scientific research budgets in Europe at 0.25 per cent of GDP in 2010” (Encyclopedia Brittanica, 2012).The truly difficult task that we all must face to get beyond this great slump, and within the entire world (though some places much more worse off than others), is to manage the change effectively and principled. By principled, though, managers as well as individual employees must maintain and advocate a strong sense of morals and ethical upstanding, but also the ability to change with the times. That will be one of the biggest shifts.

“With the capture of a rump Bulgarian kingdom centered at Bdin (Vidin) in 1396, the last remnant of Bulgarian independence disappeared. … The Bulgarian nobility was destroyed—its members either perished, fled, or accepted Islam and Turkicization—and the peasantry was transfered to Turkish masters.”

By far the most beneficial and productive element of this technological age that brings humanity to take part in, and is therefore crucial to consider in terms of information technologies, is the process of self-determination. Acknowledging and adapting an aptitude toward this state of life-long-learning has become and will continue to be essential. This recognition will continue to be the most integral part of corporate culture. Training is nonstop, and that is a bonus. To reap the most favorable benefits and the full potential of leading technologies, personnel will exist in a state of perpetual training. Thus, life will only continue to become faster paced. Rather than accepting that as overwhelming or frightening or out of control, humanity must embrace it for the benefits. 

V. Paragraphs Five & Six (Collective) 

For one, we will be working intellectually smarter, and not physically harder. This will draw a more strengthened state of generalized consciousness and further human evolution. Accordingly, we will not pessimistically waste time blaming the group; each of our mindsets will have shifted from the utmost need to find social acceptance on the job. That shift will soon placed on the expeditious completion of every chore so as to have time to then socialize. Humans are social mammals, no doubt. Therefore, we will only continue to further human evolution.

For another, new technological innovations will always be on the rise, and as a team we will always be trying to competitively accelerate more quickly than other corporations. In order to optimize all prospective enhancements to their fullest, individual employees will need to be equipped with — right alongside the comprehensive knowledge of the inception of the newest technology — all options available in the implementation of pliable and functional practices able to facilitate technology.

VI. Conclusion

Location and Job Security

 Fortunately, the convenience of the technological age is the broad availability that this technology brings with it. It is quite accommodating; in fact, far more accommodating than ever before in history. This is definitely a benefit. In a major sense, enhanced self-reliance brings a newly formed sense of job security with it. Both metaphorically and literally, this broadening sense of situational and environmental advancement will bring with it far more career availabilities, and even options with it. Moreover, this will invite training and build work experience at an unprecedented rate. All in all, the future looks rather promising.
