Specific Purpose Statement

The purpose of this presentation is to provide documented research on the impact color has on oral communication, specifically in regards to presentations.  The expected result of this presentation will be to identify enhanced methods of creating effective presentations through the strategic use of color schemes.

Introduction

There are a wide range of practical applications for optimizing a presentation through the strategic use of color. The are also specific triggers that occur cognitively in responders allowing them to better understand communicated information.

Thesis Statement

The use of color in oral communication plays a significant impact on how audiences receive information, and a keen understanding of how most audiences respond to different color schemes

Body

  1. In Thistle and Wilkinson’s research on the Effects of color Cues on the mental development in pre-schoolers.
  2. Red: The use of red as a tool to draw attention is commonly touted as a focus trigger, capable of drawing attention and arousing other significant emotions
  3. Charts and Graphs: It’s common for presenters to use charts and graphs in their presentations to deliver valued information, and while data is important, the significance of that data can be lost if it is not presented effectively.
  4. Methodology: Data for this presentation is retrieved from a body of sources and then restructured for oral presentation format.
  5. Results: Data reveals that color schemes plays an important role in influencing how information is received.

Conclusion

In sum, it’s clear that through the deliberate placement of certain color schemes, in a presentation the presenter can deliver a message in a way that is more aesthetically pleasing. This is largely in part due to neurological cues that are triggered when people see certain colors.
