How to Build and Maintain a Stable Friendship, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 619

Essay

Introduction

A stable friendship is very important between two people who are friends. There exist many friendships that are not stable because of some challenges. There are ways in which stable friendship is built. The essay will focus on how a stable friendship can be built and maintained to last for the longest time possible. These ways are supported by the different points below.

  • Maintenance of honesty and openness with each other

Two friends are supposed to be honest with each other at all times. A friendship may exist, but it can lack openness and trust. As a result of a lack of honesty and openness, the friendship may not be stable and will last for a short period. Honesty and openness will make the friendship live forever and be very stable (Hays, 1985). Be open and honest when solving conflicts, express your feelings honestly and openly, and ensure confrontation of emotions together.

True friends need to share the differences between them openly and honestly. For instance, if one person does a thing that the other does not like, the other person is supposed to honestly and openly approach his friend on the act and his opinion regarding the thing. The expression of all the feelings, ideas, and emotions, progress in an open, honest manner, will build trust and loyalty among friends, ensuring that the friendship is very stable and will also last for a long time.

  • Encouragement and support providence

A friendship that intends to go far and be very stable needs to have the best encouragement and the necessary support. Each person is supposed to be a supportive partner to his colleague. Every person must ensure that his colleague has the motivation, especially during difficulties and problems. True friendship is not all about having fun and playing games. It requires each person to hold the hands of the other, especially during times of trouble like diseases, death of loved ones, or hunger. Friendship based on support and encouraging each other will automatically be very stable and last for a long time.

Comfort and encouragement in times of trouble will ensure that the friendship is stable and lasts for a long time (Hays, 1985). For instance, if one person has lost a job or a loved one, the other colleague must stand with the person facing the challenges by supporting him with various needs and giving words of encouragement. Through encouragement and support, the person going through challenges will feel the stability of the friendship and have the courage to accompany his colleague as a friend for a long time.

  • Value and treasure the simple little things

For a friendship to be stable and last for a long time, the friends’ simple moments and things are done together should be treasured. The simple things which indicate kindness and love should be celebrated together but not assumed. The rejoicing in the simple things done together will ensure that the two friends enjoy moments of happiness together. The simple things to be treasured include the memories which cannot be replaced, the unconditional love between the two friends, and the support between the two friends on various issues (Hays, 1985). The little simple things like phone calls when physically away from each other will strengthen the friendship; hence there will be stability, and the relationship will last for a long time.

Conclusion

The three explained ways help build a stable, strong friendship that will last for the longest time possible. Although there are other ways in which stable friendships are built, the explained ways are the most important in any stable, long-lasting relationship. All friends should ensure that their friendship is rooted in the three explained ways.
