How to Negotiate the Price of a Car, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 282

Essay

Despite the convenience and ease of obtaining a price quote that is free, many people prefer to negotiate their new car’s price. If a person is buying a used vehicle, the person has no other choice but to negotiate.

Commencing a Car Purchase

The first step will be to give honest and full detail about a person’s identity. Honest answers are good when wanting to purchase a car. The salesman always asks the question of how the buyer is planning to pay the car in monthly installments. A person should tell the salesman as quoted in a journal about car negotiation,”……. I’m not at all interested in discussing monthly payments now but I only want to talk about the selling price of the vehicle” (para 3).

Steps Toward a Successful Car Purchase

The first step is to offer an amount that is below your actual pre-set buying figures. Second step is to negotiate up from the available invoice price of new cars or the used cars. The salesman will try to make a person raise one’s bid but the next step is one where a person should never negotiate against oneself nor raise the bid until the salesman makes a counter offer. A buyer should make small increments when negotiating. When a buyer has reached the pre-set figure, he should stop there and hold on to his price until the salesman agrees to sell the car.

Tips before a person buys a car; it is very important to first obtain a price quote that is free (from a dealership nearby). This will give a person some information on the valid selling price that is bottom-line and the buyer will then use it to compare one’s negotiating price.
