Interview

What initiated your interest in business? which area of business is most interesting to you? What do you see yourself doing 5/10 years from now?  – For this, it is good to refer to your personal statement, and maybe look at some recent news articles that you have read that are relevant to your interests.

I have been interested in business and finance for as long as I can remember. From a young age I was drawn to stories about how small businesses were able to overcome challenges and obstacles to rise to the top of their fields. I have also been fascinated by watching large multinational and transnational companies operate on the global stage. The age of globalization has opened up enormous opportunities for businesses while also presenting new and sometimes daunting challenges. I believe that my background and experience will prepare me well for a business career in a global world. In the years to come I intend to complete my education and find a position with an organization that gives me the opportunity to work on an international scale. Ten years from now I see myself leading a compnay that operates on an international scale.

There are countless news stories about international and multinational businesses published every day, but one that caught my eye recently was about the acquisiton of Chrysler by Fiat. As a native Italian I have a particualr affinity for the Fiat organization and their products. I have been impressed by the way Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of Fiat, has handled the deal with Chrysler, and I admire his efforts to make the joint company a “global automaker.” Marchionne has the kind of vision it will take to compete in the decades to come, as more and more companies have footprints in multiple nations. It is my goal to develop my skills and advance my education so that I can be successful in this 21st-century business world.

What about Hult’s program is attractive to you? – For this, have a look at our website! Look at what recent news has been posted, which speakers we’ve had, what activities have been going on outside the classroom. Also have a look at Hult’s teaching method (LEAP), and have strong answers to why you think you would thrive in such an environment. Maybe you have done similar practical applications during your High School years?

Simply put, my interest in Hult is drive primarily by its emphasis on international business.  There are srtong schools on my native Italy that offer International Business programs, but by attending school at Hult I will be able to earn my degree in a truly international context. I am also a strong believer that the best way to learn something is to do something, and Hult’s Learning, Experience, Action Project will allow me to do so much more than simply memorize informtation from textbooks. I have always been motivated to accomplish things in life, and I believe that the LEAP approach wil suit my natural skills and traits. I also believe that it is more imprtant than ever that businesses strive to be good citizens of the world, and fro what I have seen, Hult places great emphasis on the social aspect of business. While looking over the website I saw that Jessica Jackley was one of the school’s recent gues speakers. I strongly admire  Ms. Jackley for her work with Kiva and with ProFounder. These organizations have helped small businesses get started in the developing world and around the globe. I hope to have a career that combines strong business performamnce with a sense of social responsibility, and Ms. Jackley serves as a positive role model for me.

Other speakers I admire include Bob Geldof and Biz Stone. Both of these men have proven to be visionaries and to find ways to bring the world together. Mr. Geldof’s efforts to provde famine relief in the 1980s helped to make the world a smaller place long before the Internet Age. Mr. Stone has redefined the way people communicate with each other with Twitter. The visioanires of today are helping to create the world that I will work in for the years to come, and I am eager to havew the chance to learn from thenm and from other people like them. Along with these guest speakers, the faculty at Hult is uniquely prepared to help students truly understand the modenr business environment. Hult provides more than just a classroom eduation; it provides students with a completely immersive experience both inside thw classroom and in the real world. That is the kind of education I would like to get.

What have your search criteria been while looking at Bachelor Degree Programs? Have location, teachers, students, flexibility, or campus rotation been strong factors in your decision on where to apply?  Which schools and programs have you narrowed down your search to?

I have had a number of criteria in mind as I looked at Bachelor Degree Programs, but the most imprtant criterion was that the school will offer an eduction that will truly prepare me for a career at an international level. There are countless schools that offer Business Degrees, but it is important to me that the program I attend will make it possible for me to enter the business world immediately after competiing my degree.  I have also looked into programs at the London Schol of Economics, Stanford University, and Wharton School of Business, and I have been impressed with the quality of the programs and faculty at those schools.

After checking out a number of programs, however, I determined that Hult offers the best overall educational expreience, and its emphasis on real-world and hands-on learning suits me better than any other program. The borders that divide countries and that divide people are falling away, and the world is getting smaller every day. I want to get a degree that prepares me for this new world, and I believe that Hult is the best choce for me to make that happen.
