Merit pay seems to be the new idea in contrast to the old traditional pay schemes of tenure and higher education for teachers. “It appears 30 of 50 school districts are in favor of the new idea.” (Delisio, 2006). Politicians feel this will be a strong political issue that may give rise to political havoc and if it is not passed they may have to do away with the idea.

The employees hired are more likely to remain satisfied with the employment hence staying on the job longer and being more productive employees.
