Impact of Regulation Changes, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Research Paper

Licensing and regulations in my organization (child care center) are regulated by a division of the state that monitors operational practices and investigates complaints made against any type of child care facility(CHFS, 2013). This is important to ensure the safety and proper treatment of the children in the care of any facility or person. Also, a child’s life can be significantly impacted by experiences within his or her child care facility. A child’s psychological and mental development is influenced by child care experiences, so they need to be cared for in environments that are nurturing to them and state regulation makes sure this happens(CCLC, 2011). In addition, licensing and regulatory requirements in child care facilities are in place to lessen the possibility of harm to children in out-of-home care. For example, regulatory requirements project the children from fire and building safety hazards, spreading of communicable diseases, and from unhealthy or illegal relationships with caregivers in the facility (Office of Child Care, 2011).

Regulatory or licensing changes sometimes occur and one big change that was made that affects my organization is the requirement that a teacher who specializes in early childhood education must be employed by the center, because it cares for more than 25 children. The regulation stipulates the teacher must be present in the facility for at least six hours a day (because we operate more than 50 hours a week). Changes I would recommend include hiring two early childhood education teachers to do job sharing, so that the facility would not be out of compliance if one of them left the position.
