Individual Use of Power, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 314

Research Paper

Both leadership and power, either personal or professional, should be used to develop persons in the community. These two should for the service of people within the community. Personal individual interest should take the back seat in leadership and in how power bestowed on an individual is applied. Proper use and skilful application of personal and professional power can be used to empower, ease difficulties, confusion and reduce harm in the society. The use of power to heal, prevent or repair harm in the society is the right use of power either personally or in positions of trust. Right use of power requires the ability to act sensitively, creatively and effectively in good intentions.

The use of literacy power can be used to empower the people. Valerie Babb in her article “The Joyous Circle” observes that only by grasping the word can a person engage in the speech acts that would ultimately define his selfhood (Babb, 2005). Here, we can conclude that literacy power can help individuals express themselves for others to know who they are. This is for proper use of power for individual development.

On the use of presidential signing powers Coopers notes that signing statements have been employed as fiscal line-item vetoes, as substantive line-item vetoes, to set boundaries on the reach of parts of the legislation, and to structure the implementation of the new statute through instructions to the agency head (Coopers, 2005). Here we observe that the use of the presidential powers is geared towards the betterment of legislation in the society.
