How the information and news media have affected American culture

Information medium and social responsibility

A high echelon of social responsibility is expected from information media because many people depend on information media for vital information. All type of news including natural disasters, crime as well as politics is supplied to the public through information media and accurate reporting is an important component of social responsibility. Lack of proper reporting may upset people who may be a thorn in the fresh of public figures as they sort for means of preventing or changing issues that do not exist (Gerber, et al., 2009).

The role of the information and news media in the shaping of political opinions

Information and news media play a significant role in shaping political opinions because it influences the public perception of politics. Therefore, information and news media has a lot of responsibilities during information presentation because it greatly influences the minds of individuals on political opinions (Gerber, et al., 2009). The reason behind winning political elections is to a greater degree attributed to the contribution of information and new media. People learn about issue in government and politics through newspapers and television as the most common media outlets. They tactfully select the relevant stories to be covered that in turn shape the political knowledge, behaviors as well as attitudes of the public.

Electronic media and their convergence have transformed journalism and news consumption

Majority of the media houses use various formats in news production and convergence ha drastically transformed journalism through blurring the boundary between conventional classes of mass media such as the print, the broadcast news as well as the online sources. The recipients of this information have shifted their interests in favor of news on demand (Gerber, et al., 2009). The preference is therefore on the media platforms as well as outlets that are capable of delivering the needed information and at the most appropriate time. It is therefore the duty of aggregators to deliver information in the most user friendly format that will appeal to the recipients.
