Conventionally, the purpose of the news is to inform the audience about events occurring around the world. While this form of media has always had a certain bias, these personal opinions were subtle because the main focus was on reporting. However, the advent of the Internet and conventional media has shifted the purpose of the news, as it has essential become a mechanism by which to entertain the public and convince them to share the new company’s political convictions. These means have allowed the distribution of news to become more of a business, leading to a need to replace conventional reporting with more entertainment.

The establishment of the Internet has allowed the public to access a wealth of information very quickly, which allows news providers to be more liberal about the statements made online. There are many online periodicals that are accessed in order to provide information about celebrities, politicians, and occasionally, important events around the world. This make it difficult for readers to hone in on what is actually news, as many articles are disguised as the news, but are in reality a promotion for a person or a product. This print to digital transformation has made it difficult for the common person to receive the same quality of news that they did in the past. Furthermore, a greater number of individuals tend to utilize this method to receive their news because it’s free.

Even the news that is available on television has changed significantly. Viewers must be aware of the political alliance of the station that they are watching in order to find the truth behind the reporting. It is very challenging to find any television news stations that are completely without bias. Since these programs are supported financially by political candidates and other influential figures, they typically present information that is either in support of that individual or contradictory to his or her opponents. This indicates that news reporting has changed primarily due to the influence of outside forces, which is now easier than ever before due to the availability of the Internet. While it would be helpful to remove this influence to make the news genuine, the news is now profitable business and it does not seem like this concept will be reversed any time soon.
