Introverts Brains Works Differently From That of Extroverts, Essay Example

Introverts brains works differently from that of extroverts. PET scan was used to establish the most active section of the brain while studying the brain of introverts and extroverts. Determination of the most active part between introverts and extroverts was determined by flow of blood in the brain. The two personalities process dopamine in different ways. They respond to reward in different ways.

The blood of both introverts and extroverts travel in different pathways. The difference is that introverts blood travels along long paths that are complicated and they usually focus internally (Cain, 2013). Blood in introverts flowed in parts of the brain that are concerned with reasoning, resolving difficulties and planning. This path is very long and complicated making introverts to concentrate on their inner feelings and thoughts.

Researchers have identified the fast acting parts of extrovert’s showings that this kind of personality process input that deals with their action and inspirations. The blood of extroverts flows in areas that deal with auditory, visual, taste and touch senses. It should be noted that blood does not flow in regions that deal with smell senses. The main pathway of this type of personality is short and usually less complicated. Extroverts attend to issues that happen externally.

The different pathways of these two personalities are accompanied by different neurotransmitters. Extroverts use on the dopamine neurotransmitter that is connected to alert states, learning, and attention (Cain, 2013). This type of personality is not very sensitive to dopamine; however, they need large amount of this neurotransmitter. It is unfortunate the brain does not produce enough dopamine neurotransmitter.

Extroverts require large amounts of dopamine and adrenaline that is released by sympathetic nervous system. This system produces more brain dopamine. Therefore, increase in activity for the extroverts makes them happier and there is production of more dopamine. Extroverts feel more pleased to visit people and resorts (Laney, 2010). Conversely, introverts are extremely subtle to dopamine. When there is production of too much dopamine then the introvert feels overstimulated. This type of personality uses a different type of neurotransmitter from extroverts known as acetylcholine. Acetylcholine has different influences to the introverts, which includes affecting their attention and perceptual learning. This neurotransmitter works on the ability of introverts to be calm, use long-standing recollection and initiating controlled movement. Acetylcholine makes introverts to experience good feeling when thinking. All this occurs because introverts take longer to refill their energy after being emptied than the extroverts. This is because the nerve receptor of introverts is slow in up taking the neurotransmitter. This means that introverts get tired very fast and have a long time before they recover. Neocortex is convoluted in higher occupations such as sensory sensitivity, production of motor instructions, altitudinal reasoning, mindful thought, and in people’s vernaculars. The neocortex entails of grey substance that is adjacent to the profounder white substance of the cerebrum.
