Japan, Creative Essay Example

If I am given a choice to choose one country for a trip, I would choose Japan without any hesitation. Japan is an anomaly in so many areas as compared to other countries that one cannot help but being fascinated by the country. I want to visit Japan because it serves as an example in many areas to other countries.

Japan is the face of pacifism in my opinion. There are other countries, too who are neutral such as Switzerland and Sweden but Japan’s unique history makes it a more credible example. Pre-WWII Japan was a military power which committed many atrocities around the world but the country dramatically changed itself after witnessing the horror of an atomic bomb and even became a close ally of the very same country that dropped two bombs on it. If Japan could do it, why countries such as Pakistan and India or Palestine and Israel cannot resolve their differences?

Japanese economic rise also defies the conventional wisdom. History shows that immigration is usually beneficial, especially of high-skilled workers and countries like U.S. also owe their economic prosperity to their population diversity. But Japan was the second-biggest economy for quite a considerable period of time despite the fact that it is almost a monotonous society. Unlike many other countries that have economically prospered by attracting talent from other countries, Japan has done it almost on its own. In addition, Japan is also poor in natural resources such as oil and rubber etc. which is again a rarity among developed and emerging economies.

Japanese history, especially after WW-II is a perfect example of the power of hard work, self-believe, and pragmatism. Japan is a proof that one can always challenge the conventional rules through determination and perseverance. Japan’s message to the world is to forget past and work towards a better future.
