Hayashi, Brian Masaru. 2004. Democratizing the enemy: the Japanese American internment. Princeton, N.J.: Princeton University Press. https://www.jstor.org/stable/j.ctt7rr6g. At the time of World War II, there was a forceful removal of Japanese Americans from their homes and they were confined in camps over several states, which were called assembly centers. Millions of dollars were lost by the Japanese Americans while in the fortified lookouts. In this book, the author reassesses the incident that took place for three years. He looks into the reasoning behind the forceful confinement of the Japanese Americans in camps. The main reason that is discovered in the work is that the move was based on racism, failure in leadership, and war panic.

Cogan, Frances B. 1999. Captured: the Japanese internment of American civilians in the Philippines, 1941-1945. Athens, Ga: University of Georgia Press. http://www.h-net.org/review/hrev-a0c0m6-aa. This book is also based on the World War II context, in which around five thousand American citizens, who lived in the Philippines were detained in camps after Japan conquered Manila in 1941. The author, Frances B. Cogan looks into the happenings of the captivity that lasted for around four years and why they took place. This work discusses various contentious matters involved with the detainment together with the intentions of the Japanese. He also talks about the experiences in the camps

Greenberg, Cheryl. “Black and Jewish Responses to Japanese Internment.” Journal of American Ethnic History 14, no. 2 (1995): 3-37. Accessed October 5, 2020. http://www.jstor.org/stable/27500003. Similar to other works, this article also acknowledged racism to be the root cause of the detainment of Japanese Americans. The Jewish and the Black feared the Japanese, and it was because of racism that the internment was not opposed. This work shows how the thinking of the two groups impacted the internment of the Japanese, which was obviously to propagate it more.

Potucek, Susan C. “Using Children’s Literature to Make History Come Alive: Discussing Prejudice and the Japanese Internment.” The History Teacher 28, no. 4 (1995): 567-71. Accessed October 5, 2020. DOI:10.2307/494644. Susan C. Potucek gives the assumption of an imminent threat to national security as the main cause of internment. This book tells the best way students can get access to the real information about the internment, which is through materials written by the Japanese American victims who were in the camps. She gives a variety of books that students can access and get a real insight into the happenings in the camps.

Reitzig, Stephanie. “By the Code of Humanity”: Ralph Carr Takes a Stand for Japanese-American Rights in World War II.” The History Teacher 51, no. 1 (2017): 105-22. Accessed October 5, 2020. http://www.jstor.org/stable/44504544. This work starts showing how Ralph Carr, Colorado governor, was outraged on how the Japanese Americans were being denied their rights because of their racial differences. She reaffirmed the Japanese American rights, which had a big impact on the internment. Her efforts made to stand for the minority groups had great impacts on the US constitutional rights. This was named under the constitution as ‘the Code of Humanity’
