Leadership Attribute, Research Paper Example

Leadership attributes ascribed to school captains vary depending on the individual’s personality. However, for this case, my greatest strength is leading with examples, which has enabled me accomplish all leadership goals without biases. As a school captain, leading the rest of the school is a challenging job, but vast knowledge and experience, has given me the capacity to set up standards. They have helped in adherence of set goals and rules thus, has helped in the mentoring of other students in meeting academic standards and discipline levels. In order to obtain all this, consistency and handwork are essential tools, for any leader, to be equipped with, since it fosters the enhancement of other leadership attributes.

Leading with example has brought positive feedback with regard to school performance. This responsibility has enabled me attain other essential aspects relating to exemplary leadership. For example, improved channels of communication that fosters a collaborative system of leadership in the school. In ensuring that set targets met, Captains need to set examples and thus, this has enabled me achieve better results in academic work in order to support my sentiment s to other students. By consistently maintaining set standards, I have been able to mentor other students into participating in various fields of expertise that include sporting activities, acting among others. This has improved their efficiency and proficiency in the class, which is linked to the overall performance of the school.

This strength has enabled me gain recognition from school management, teachers, parents and students. This is evident from the following, “the sustainable transformation of a school is the outcome of effective leadership. Effective leadership results in the improvement of physical, psychological and social conditions for teaching and learning, raised aspirations of staff, students and communities and the improved achievement of all pupils” (Day et al., 2009, p.5). It is evident that leading by example bears much fruit for school captains.
