What are the principles of scholarly discussion in an online environment? How does this differ from a friendly conversation or social network? How can we ensure that our course discussions remain scholarly?

Validity and accuracy is one matter that needs to be given attention to especially in assuming the consideration over how garnered information from such portal of communication and conversation. Practically, it could be realized that the value of the information taken from such approach to scholarly research provides a distinct sense of insistence on how proper data is supposed to be managed (Hood, 23). Discussion between researchers and participants in a particular study that is handled online takes a more formal approach considered to social-network communication.

Unlike friendly online conversations in social networks, scholarly interviews and conversations undergone online are usually direct to the point; researchers make it a point that their presentation of data to the participants would be concise in form (Hood, 28); especially for the sake of keeping their interest to stay within the conversation, while also aiming to mandate a sense of insistence on how modern patterns of conversations are handled [in relation to online patterns of communication].

In online connections, it is most often than not that the conversing parties could opt to make distinct presentations of themselves [of which they really are not] (Hood, 29). Considering this fact, making sure of the each other’s’ [conversant/s] valid background information is a necessary step towards establishing a better insistence on what good and effective communication is all about. With full management on the different factors contributing to possible anomalies of online communication, it is rather important to give attention to how the barriers of expression could be dealt with accordingly especially in making sure that modern constructs of learning need not be jeopardized by the emerging imbalance in the communication patterns used in online connections.

List your strengths and areas for improvement or barriers as you begin this online program. Identify strategies for success in the online learning environment. Identify strategies to overcome your identified barriers.

Although I am computer-literate, handling conversations online is not my forte; not even the friendly social network conversations. Perhaps through transforming my understanding of what online conversations are about and understanding their value to my personal being and personal growth, I would be able to overcome my disbelief over the concept of never having an effective conversation with individuals online [especially when handling scholarly communication options]. Distinctively, it could be noticed that with the ideal pattern of improving the way I relate myself to others through online connections, I would be able to grasp the real value of online conversations as they correlate with what is meant by practically connecting with others in a scholarly manner through online communication.

Another matter to consider on the part by which I should improve my personal value and culture in relation to online communications and learning procedures is the concept of redefining how modern culture could actually affect the way I present myself to others. My belief over the integrity of information shared online should also be reestablished so as not to be over-concerned on the validity of the data I am able to collect through online communication and research. With such matter in thought, I know I would be able to balance out good aspects of online learning with the applications of skills that I have acquired through such portal in actual practices that are more direct than the ones handled online; this skill would make me more competent in handling my responsibilities accordingly. with proper application of transformational attitude, I look forward towards assuming how well proper concepts of online learning could help me further my skills in actually completing my tasks in a more competent manner.
