Lesbian Cannot Adopt the Baby, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 528

Essay

It is without a doubt that it would be a problem for a lesbian to not be able to adopt her baby when her partner has been artificially inseminated. These individuals are simply looking to start their own family and to be happy, however, if and when society refuses to leave them alone, they are not allowed to reach their maximum happiness. Because of the manner in which the world has been evolving, society should come to accept both gays and lesbians and come to understand that being lesbian or gay is not a choice, some people are truly born that way.

I believe it to be an embarrassment for certain states to not allow gays to adopt. In a way, this is pure discrimination against a race of individuals, something that goes against the United States Constitution. A call should be enacted for all individuals, including gays and lesbians, to be treated absolutely equal.

The reason for the discrepancy is because of the manner in which a lot of individuals disagree with children being purely raised by a gay couple. Seeing how this varies from region to region, data would indicate that some geographical areas have more gay households in comparison to other households.

Yes, I believe it is ideal for a child to have both a mother and a father simply because there are certain qualities that a mother can provide that a father cannot, such as breastmilk. Of course, there are alternatives to this, but human anatomy indicates that a child needs a father and a mother. This, however, does not necessarily mean that a child would have a difficult upbringing if he or she were raised in a household with two dads or two moms. In a way, the children would come to view gender sexuality as normal and would not be discriminating against gays and lesbians.

I strongly believe that it is good that gay couples are fostering as well as adopting because there are a number of children in foster homes who would give absolutely anything to have a family to live with. Simply because a couple is gay or lesbian does not mean that it would be unusual for the child to grow up in such a household.

It would certainly not come as a surprise to come to the realization that kids of gay parents have a harder time in life because of how taboo the topic still is. Because of the manner in which there are a variety of people out there who believe that gays and lesbians should not exist, kids of gay parents could possibly be bullied and made fun of through no fault of their own.

I was not surprised by the results of the undercover bullying study. It falls within everyones responsibility to take a stand when an unfair event is being witnessed. Those individuals that stood up and kicked the bullies out of the restaurant did the right thing. If I would witness something like this, I would invariably try my best to make the situation better.
