Let Your Life Speak by Parker J. Palmer, Book Review Example

In “Let Your Life Speak” by Parker J. Palmer, the author is trying to engage people in knowing if they are living the same life, they have always dreamt about. He starts the book on an insightful and moving meditation looking forward to finding the true calling of an individual. For people who want to live authentically, this book is dedicated to them. In this book, Palmer is trying to encourage people to allow the highest values and truths guide them. However, he cautions people that before they tell their life on what they want to do with it, they should listen to their internal feelings. It is good for people to allow life to tell them the truths and values present in them.

Palmer argues that career is not something that comes from willfulness. It is something that comes from the accepting and listening of one’s true self. However, it comes with limits that people need to exploit. He goes ahead to explain that career is not a goal but a gift. People should not aim at achieving a career but should be ready to receive it. It is through career that people receive personal fulfillment. If people interact with others, they will be able to find compassionate. He also advises people to live with wisdom, humor, and compassion. Parker J. Palmer advises people to take into consideration what their inner teacher advises and follow its leadings in order to get the meaning and purpose of life.
