In Logistics in the Production / Construction Phase

How would you measure and assess effectiveness of a production capability?

The effectiveness of a firm’s capacity to produce could be further measured under the observation of the application of the three major factors of efficiency. Such factors could be noted as: (a) Flexibility; (b) process and (c) information integration capability (Luo, 2015). These three factors are viewed as the vital elements that make up a successful production line in logistics. To take note of each factor separately, it is important to give attention to how each element makes up the capacity of any production firm to make the best out of the materials it owns and provide extensive support to the possibility of increasing the profit it gets from the operations it engages in.

The first consideration is on flexibility. This measure accounts for the capacity of the organization to embrace full consideration on how matters [including materials and the actual operations] could be duly adjusted according to the changing patterns of needs that the organization need to give attention to especially in terms of mandating the way they serve the needs of their target clients in the market.

The second consideration is on process, which basically relates to the procedures taken into account, especially when it comes to mandating a sense of direction that the company ought to follow especially in terms of dealing with immediate adjustments in cost management that occurs every now and then in the market.

The third element involves the indication n how information integration capability is measured. This insist on the manner by which the organization is able to use extensive information to make sure that they are able to give attention to the primary demands of the market they serve, especially for the sake of improving their course of advancement in the field of industry they are aiming to affect accordingly.

There have been many reports and news stories lately debating the introduction of UAVs into the National Air Space System. Research a few of those stories and tell the class if you feel that the FAA should allow UAVs to fly now or if there needs to be some special rules and regulations created before they are introduced. Do you think airports can support UAVs in the future? Or should UAVs have their own airports/runways separate from commercial traffic?

Among the stories that were shared in relation to the production and utilization of UAVs in the airfield where commercial airplanes also fly in is the manner by which flights could be interrupted which may cause further damages later on. Some individuals and institutions on the other hand are worried about issues of privacy (Singer, 2009b). Knowing that the drones or the UAVs are to be manned by operators on land, they would be able to control the visions they hope to garner, and given that some drones are not to be monitored closely, privacy issues may arise alongside such operations (Wagner, 1989).

What is needed to be considered in relation to this issue is the expansion of possibilities that would further improve the way the drone operations are monitored and managed accordingly. The approval of certificates and licenses for using drones on air for surveillance purposes [and other reasons the like] ought to be developed so as to protect the public from possible privacy overrides (Singer, 2009). On the other hand, when it comes to the traffic and distraction of air flights of airplanes, it is important to develop a better sense of information system that is technologically accurate so as to serve as primary guidance to operators of drones. Scheduling of flights of these drones should also be considered; this shall lower down the possibility of determining possible distractions of commercial air flights thus making the management of traffic much easier to handle.
