• What are your overall impressions of this documentary?

The documentary, in an overall concept, tries to create a specific visionary distinction as to how minorities are treated in ill-fated countries such as Pakistan. With the government and the anti-groups hoping to gain control over the society, it could be understood that the concerns of the public becomes set aside. Such condition of situations often lead to the neglect of what the people actually need. Education has been presented in the documentary to be the root of all the different situations that Malala has suffered and yet has endured for the sake of getting what she believes is rightfully hers and that of her people. Showing what Malala’s journey was about makes the documentary an echoing message not only to Pakistan and its government, but to all other countries that do not consider education for women as a vital source of social strength.

• At this present date what various forms of media have been used to communicate the tragic event that lead to Malala’s injury? Do a bit of investigating to find this information if necessary.

As mentioned in the documentary, Malala used all the possible media she could get her hands into. During the time, the most effective way of getting to the public what she wanted them to know is through blogging. At age 11, Malala boldly defined her personal understanding of the situations in her country, specifically focusing on the treatment that she and the other feminine members of the community receive. Education, the central point of most of her topics began to shape the ideas and the presentations of facts she used to get her message to people all around the globe. Later on, print media and television have also been involved in the way of Malala’s sending out an important message dedicated to her government and her people.

• What are your views of how to advance the right of girls for education in that region?

Continuing the aspect of citizen journalism as Malala did would help a lot, although it might endanger those who would choose to do so [like the situation did to Malala herself]. Nevertheless, such movement would empower the community and strengthen their stand against the controlling systems that the government subjects them to.

• What impression do you think the media coverage of this incident has given the average viewer in other countries regarding what happening in Pakistan?

People from other countries would know how much politics is controlling Pakistan and how the said aspect of movement affects its people. Not being able to get access to the basic rights of the people as presented in the documentary shows why Pakistan remains at the realms of social devastation and chaos when it could actually take a higher road to progress if the needs and welfare of the people becomes the government’s priority of service.

• In what ways does this event reflect globalization? Can it be ignored?

Back then, education was not a necessity [that is relative to the need for formal education learned in local institutions]. The home was a learning ground and it was enough to hone the skills of the people, especially the women. However, at the entrant of globalization, education from academic institutions became a necessity for one to realize the fullness of her being and her capacity to survive and embrace modern living. At this point, Malala’s point of view could then not be ignored as children like her [especially the girls] long so much to be given the chance to live a life separate from what they have known and they do believe that they could only do this when they are given proper education.
