How would developing a WBS alleviate some of the problems during the first meeting and help Nicolette organize and plan the project?

It provides the participants a clear view of all the events while also stipulating the roles the participants are expected to play. Work Break Structure, therefore, provides a schedule in which an event is to be conducted (Thomson et al., 2019).  A completed WBS is usually passed to the team leaders to communicate to the members of their teams. One of the essential roles played by a WBS is providing room for a follow-up of all the activities and the participants in charge of such roles. The WBS also ensures that no event is missed. The use of WBS, in this case, will therefore ensure that each participant is accorded a role and a follow-up can be carried while also ensuring that there is no event missed.

Where can Nicolette find additional information to help her develop a WBS for the tournament?

Nicolette can deploy various techniques to find information on developing a Work Break Structure for the tournament.

  • The first approach that Nicolette could deploy is by reading articles on how to develop a WBS. This will, however, provide her with the overall view of how to prepare a WBS.
  • She could as well indulge in peer-review with her colleagues who have been organizing events. This discussion will provide her with the best possible scheme to develop a work Break Structure. The discussions are also critical as Nicolette most likely finds information from people with more experience developing WBS for tournaments. The insights they give will be vital in Nicolette’s case.

How could Nicolette and her task force use the WBS to generate cost estimates for the tournament? Why would this be useful information?

In that, the WBS carries all the schedule of events in the tournament, the information that it entails can be sued by the event organizers to estimate the costs for the tournament (Radujkovic et al., 2017). Besides, the WBS has a list of participants in the tournaments and the roles that they will play; thus, it can facilitate budgeting. The cost information is vital to any event.

  • First and foremost, the cost estimate helps organize an event that will meet all the needs without the fear of running low on materials or lacking in cash. The shortage of either of the two will make the event dreadful.
  • The WBS also helps provide finance generating aspects of the tournament, such as a collection of registration fees.
