Mandatory service promotes national as well as community unity significantly in various ways. It offers a chance for the people to learn and train together and establish the shared experience of serving the community. People learn to comprehend and appreciate each other for the sacrifices they make for society (Gallant, Karen, Bryan, and Susan, 188-189). However, the most commonly known kind of mandatory service in the military service was prominent among various nations worldwide. For instance, I take part in community service, where I attend the community children center to teach young children different everyday life skills for half an hour every attendance for only four days a week. The community center encourages interaction and volunteering to deliver to the community. Several services are carried out in the center where young kids hang out when they are free. Most parents prefer a center since their children are secure and can learn faster from others. However, many young, energetic people take part in this service where they can share experiences as we educate the children.
I can fully support mandatory service among communities since it will significantly promote togetherness and peace in society. A consideration that this center also hosts Halloween parties for the children and hold Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas events for the kids, which makes the children comfortable and acceptable in the community (Maharjan, Nabin, and Tom, 14). Moreover, I need 32 hours for my program for the year till December 12, but other members still run it till the end of the year. The center typically makes it simple for me since I get the chance to invite my kids to the events I acknowledge their happiness. The program is supported by most parents who are encouraged to let their kids take part in it. They like it since it will make their children occupied during the holidays as they attend daily events. So far, since the program was initiated, I can testify its benefits to the community as a whole.
My service instructor in our community is known as Mr. Art. He is highly involved with the community, and he is a motivating factor to other people, for instance, I included. He coordinates the events very well and has been doing his work with passion since the first day, I joined the center (Weidner, Jenelle, 71). I joined the center because I wanted to be more involved with the community, just as Mr. Art was doing. It is motivating serving the people and comes along with benefits and developments. Through this approach, I have learned to modify personality traits such as openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness (Gallant, Karen, Bryan, and Susan, 183). The learning has helped me in developing a positive cognitive and emotional state, which includes a positive affect, life satisfaction, and creating happiness. I have been able to predict the occurrence of life events whereby high levels of life satisfaction are linked to reduced unemployment in society, starting new jobs, and relocating.
Being part of the community service is also responsible for the personal development of individuals. For example, since I joined the community center, I have noticed many people’s transformation who take part in the center. I have learned how to approach, listen, and understand different people by meeting and interacting with other people in the center. Some idle people and are willing to be part of the community are recruited and given roles so that they get occupied. The functions must not be formal but just according to the member’s general knowledge. Some can be assigned cooking roles, cleaning, and any other form of available work to keep them occupied. However, Mr. Art can complement and appreciate all the members to ensure they are motivated, and they see the need to be part of the community center (Weidner, Jenelle, 83-84). Mandatory community sharing is prominent in well thriving societies. Any community with this platform, holding events and occupying children and other community members who are wishing to take part in the center, promotes peace and significant development. Since most parents would support the program, all the communities should be encouraged to develop such a plan for the better of their kids and the community at large.
Most activities associated with mandatory service are life event-related socialization, which affects the individuals involved. As young kids grow, personality traits change systematically across the life span (Maharjan, Nabin, and Tom, 17). Mandatory service will help the involved people to remain relatively stable across the life span since they will be taught to expect ups and downs in association to particular life events in their lives and the best ways to approach each type of challenge. However, I support compulsory community service since it is significantly life-changing and promotes togetherness, openness, peace and unity.
