My Current Goals, Essay Example

Goal 1. To have completed the project by March 15th, an academic paper and learn how to do it. 

I want to have completed the final draft research paper: economic impact of municipal investments. Investing in a municipal bond means lending money to a local government or state where you will receive interests throughout the bond period. After the maturity of the bonds, you will receive the full value of the principal amount. Such investments are designed for investors with high incomes seeking a tax-free rate of interest. This investment allows people to invest in a diversified field of municipal funds. Municipal investments offer their payouts every month instead of individual municipals, which pay semi-annual or quarterly payments. By the end, I should have completed the economic impacts of municipal investments.

Having monthly meetings with the region to ensure we are aligned in the views and direction that this paper is going and there are no last-minute hiccups (Thoomkuzhy & Thangiah 2020). Monthly meetings will be essential as they will keep us updated on the latest information. This will prevent last-minute rash and maybe even minimize the chances of omitting some essential information.

I want to have a paper that reflects on previous investments by the region and its impact, and then plan accordingly on how the municipality can alter it in the future, so they are in a better position from an economic standpoint if a huge event such as the pandemic hits again.

Relevant does not make sense in accordance with this goal.

I want to achieve this goal by March 15th March 15th to allow for sufficient time to make minor alternations before final submission and presentation to the Region on April 8th. This will give me an ample time to do any re-adjustments before the final submission.

Goal 2. To teach skills like excel and learn data models like VERC, VAR by February 23rd, we can find variables to measure and focus on study. 

I want to be able to know how to use the statistical models: VECM, Linear Regression and Multiplier Analysis and apply/interpret data from it to come up with a conclusion for my research paper. This will improve my accuracy and skills in concluding my research paper.

I will be having meetings twice a week with my professor to learn about these models. When I can run a model independently using the data from the region, I will know I achieved my goal. Involving the professor will help sharpen my skills and make clarifications whenever I am wrong.

I want to be able to use the data that I collected and analyze it to develop an accurate forecast and plan to form the basis of my research paper. Such forecasts will be accurate and, therefore, will lead to accuracy in the end product.

It will allow me to help in the project and help me learn technical skills I will need in the future as my goal is to be a data/business analyst post-graduation, and such skills are vital so that I can learn and apply at the same time. This will help me build a strong base for my future career besides the project work.

I want to achieve this by the end of February, precisely before February 23rd, as we have a check-in meeting with the region then, and so we will be able to present our findings to them by then. This would be the most appropriate time so that we can make our presentations.

Goal 3. To know how to communicate with city officials ongoing but before.

I want to improve how I communicate with authority figures. Hence, I am engaging and able to present my knowledge without letting my anxiety get in the way and relying on my professor to take over.

During our monthly meeting, my professor has made it so I will be the one presenting and speaking to the regional representatives. So biweekly, I am doing ‘mock’ meetings with my professor, who is also an authority figure but one I am more comfortable with to improve this.

I want to speak to authority figures without getting overwhelmingly anxious, so I can show what I am capable of without being a barrier to myself.

It will allow me to articulate my ideas better, especially now that I am graduating. I’m going to work with many people of authority, and even in interviews, so it’ll help me a lot in the future.

I want to have achieved this goal by the end of March during our last meeting with the region, so before the final presentation, I have the confidence to present this paper as a co-researcher. Since the presentation is in April, it’s just a month from my graduation, so I will enter the job market confident.
