Medicare Shared Savings Program, Research Paper Example

Research Paper

Healthcare delivery systems and healthcare organizations are similar because they are intended to work together to ensure that patients are able to receive quality care. However, both groups accomplish this in different manners. Specifically, healthcare delivery systems are designed to compensate physicians for their patient care, which relates to insurance coverage in the United States (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), HHS, 2011). Meanwhile, healthcare organizations specialize in information development and professional development programs to help patients. Ultimately, both programs contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

One issue that both healthcare delivery systems and healthcare organizations focus on is to provide funding for care to patients in need. Healthcare delivery systems accomplish this by reimbursing physicians and allowing patients to understand the aspects of their care that are covered. In light of the Affordable Care Act, the healthcare delivery system in the country is now designed to assist the financial aspect of care for a greater number of individuals (Kocher & Adashi, 2011). On the other hand, healthcare organizations have helped facilitate this reform. Since healthcare professionals recognized a need for patients to not be discriminated against due to existing disorders in addition to the need for individuals to be covered more broadly to ensure the protection of their individual health, members of healthcare organizations have spoken to members of the government to help enact this change. In this manner, healthcare delivery systems and healthcare organizations operate as a feedback system that helps contribute to development of legislation and knowledge that will better contribute to patient care in the United States. While the organizations differ in function, the two have similar goals.
