Research Paper

Submitting written assignments is a requirement of tutors to fulfill the requirements of course work. Monitoring and improving the quality of individual assignments is an important aspect after following the guidelines of the tutors and the course requirements. This requires some skills of accurately following stipulated guidelines for writing such assignments to avoid poor performance. Important considerations such as peer reviewing, proofreading, brainstorming, research assistance and discussions leads to effective monitoring and improving the quality of individual assignments.

Peer review

Peer review is important for all students in our team to give comments concerning the assignment to be submitted. Communication is enhanced that facilitates an understanding and enhancement of assignment quality and mastering all the concepts in the assignment. The students in the team shall correct and appraise the assignment of each other based on the guidelines. Every writer has to first complete an initial version or draft of the assignment. Every other member of the group is given an opportunity to review the work of other members and then revise it accordingly. The initial version is considered as radically incomplete until every member performs this review.

Proofreading

Proofreading goes hand in hand with editing where careful reading of the assignment is required. The overall appearance of an assignment must be improved through editing and proofreading. This also entails checking if all the requirements of the assignment have been adequately addressed. The structure, paragraphs and the general flow of ideas in the assignment is equally important. The focus of proofreading must be specific details such as the structure of sentences, spelling, referencing, grammar and formatting.

Brainstorming

Brainstorming must also be taken in to consideration in monitoring and improving the quality of individual assignments. This allows students to expand the scope of thinking on the topic of relevance to the assignment. Every student must be proactive in mind mapping which is a preliminary step in the organization of ideas and a careful appraisal of the relationship between the ideas. Brainstorming will entail focusing on research, solving the problem and development of assignment structure.

Research assistance

Research assistance is yet another positive step towards monitoring and improving the quality of individual assignments. The contribution of research assistance in this regard is assisting the students in synthesizing, analyzing as well as interpreting the information by means of suitable disciplinary content as well as methodology. Research assistance will aid the students in the identification of scholarly articles, primary resources in a particular discipline, the approach to thorough search of the most relevant scholarly literature for the assignment, appraisal of resources in terms of its appropriateness in the assignment, the functioning of scholarly communication in the assignment and the most relevant information in addressing the assignment requirements.

Discussions

Discussions also play a crucial role in monitoring and improving the quality of individual assignments in a team. Every student is given an opportunity of expressing individual perception as well as understanding of the assignment. Students are likely to face significant challenges in complex assignments because most are reluctant to express their understanding due to lack of confidence. This is the most crucial inhibitor of interactions among members of the team. It will however be crucial to try and encourage every member of the team to participate in discussions that will most certainly highlight the most relevant ideas of the assignment.
