Essay

My exhibit would be American foreign policy on Iran. In this case, White house is accusing Iran of producing weapons of mass destruction and recently bringing down an unmanned US plane. America has been seeing Iran as a growing centre of power in the region that needed to be put on check. Previously the U.S. supported different regimes when the nation was its ally. The Whitehouse has been pressing for the disbandment of the nuclear enrichment plant by Iran..

Another exhibit is the just concluded U.S. election. This election was a tightly contested one with the two rivals making it in the headlines in opinion polls having remarkably narrow gaps. Foreign affairs issues were influential in the elections especially from all over the world. It is evident that Syria, Iran and Israel foreign relations were indispensable for the two candidates.

Another potential exhibit is China territorial disputes. China has of late been involved in a number of disputes involving several islands as well as seabeds in south and east china waters. These areas under dispute are rich in gas, oil, mineral resources and fishing. The conflicts are not only driven by resources but also by historical hard feelings. These are especially Japan imperial conquest and uncertainties in the future following the rise of China in the region to a superpower status.

Monster Culture

The writer brings out seven different theses that explain a better way for reading culture from the monster. The first thesis is about the monster body being a cultural; body. The second thesis is that the monster usually escapes. This means a monster has fear, is anxious, desires and fantasy and this offer them life and independence.  The third thesis is that monsters are the predecessors of category crisis meaning that they usually escape because they are difficult to categorize. The fourth thesis is about the monster dwelling at the gates of difference. This means that the monster is an imagination of the beyond. In most instances, the monster has different trends towards politics, culture, economic and cultural. The fifth thesis is that the monster develops the policies of the possible borders. By this, the writer meant that the monster inhibits mobility and attempt of stepping outsider will lead to attacks. In this case, the monster is had a two living story one describing the way the monster came into being and the other describing the testimony of the monster. The sixth thesis is that a monster is a kind of desire. The final thesis according to the writer is that the monster is at the threshold.

Orientalism

An orient is a system of representation that is formed by a political representation that brought the orient into the learning process in the west. The term orientalism means regularizing or orientalized. This is a writing version dominated by perspectives, imperatives and ideology biasness that is suited to the orient. The writer refers orientals as inveterate liars and at the same time are “lethargic and suspicious) opposing directness, clarity and nobility of the English race. Orientalism is the knowledge that is necessary and not the need for power. Conqueror must know the conquered

Behind the Official Story

In a normal social discourse context, the most exchanged expressions smiles or pleasantries can be deceptive. In this context, ‘discourses’ is used display a level that seeks to negotiate power differential in a mutual way to mask sincere expression. The writer identifies this as a strategic dimension manifestation of the way individual undertake their duties and this may engender positive or negative reciprocal effects. In this case, the relationship that a public transcript occurs is demonstrated. A public transcript is a simple way of the writer to explain the relationship between the subordinates and those in command. This relationship is defined in a way that the mutual interests of the parties are taken into account.

From the first exhibit, we can see the use of monster in the way the US is trying to control the operations of Iran in the on the claims of nuclear plant enrichment. The idea behind the attacks is to control the advances by the Iranian government to develop nuclear energy. orientalism is demonstrated by the way the U.S. at first supported the operations of previous governments in Iran irrespective of the ideologies the government had. Iran can be seen from behind the official story trying to cry foul play following the use of sanctions against it and also its efforts in trying to bring about negotiations with the U.S. the second exhibit relates to the just concluded election. In the election, it can be seen that monster plays a critical role while behind the official story was demonstrated by the way the subordinates elected the president. China territorial dispute is the third exhibit where monster is demonstrated by the aggressions by china while orientalism is seen in the way the country wants to dominate the continent in terms of power.
