My Future’s So Bright, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 317

Essay

My mom is my greatest role model and she taught me early in life that education takes place everywhere and not just in classrooms. She also told me it is better to be good at numerous things instead of being best at just one thing because life is unpredictable and having multiple strengths increases the probability of realizing one’s true potential. Paying attention to my mom’s advices has been the best thing I have done so far and I have been gradually realizing the wisdom behind my mom’s advices.

After graduating with a 3.68 GPA from high school, I won an academic scholarship to Seton Hall University. In high school, I was a recipient of highest academic award for Advanced Mathematics but my commitment to excellence has not only been confined to academics but also extended to the sports and co-curricular activities I participated in. I was captain of the volleyball team and received several accolades for my leadership in volunteer activities. Sports and co-curricular activities have taught me that we all have obligations towards fellow human beings who may not be as fortunate or capable as us and help them achieve success in life. I have also learnt about the importance and benefits of teamwork, communication, and leadership through sports and co-curricular activities. I have also learnt about life through travelling which has exposed me to new perspectives and has also helped me get rid of personal stereotypes and biases.

My career goal is to become a neurosurgeon because I am interested in how people think and why they behave the way they do. Brain-mapping technologies have significantly advanced over the last few years and these are exciting times for neurosurgeons. I hope my work will make a significant impact at both local and international levels and will be instrumental in better understanding the psychological and mental health issues that continue to be a mystery for medical science.
