My Interview With My Teacher, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 313

Essay

Admittedly, I confessed to the professor I had worked a tad harder for a better grade, but my final grade was not what I expected even though the exam was difficult than I imagined. I requested the professor to remark my paper not because it had errors but to check whether there is any additional leniency that can be considered. On how to improve my grade, the professor openly emphasized that Math is a complex unit that can be very entertaining if a learner can commit himself to doing a lot of practice after the introduction of a new concept. Admittedly, forgetting formulas used in solving mathematic question is almost inevitable given that they do not have acronyms as used in other subjects. Therefore, she encouraged me to look for problems that have answers and the method used to arrive at the answer. In particular, she suggested that I should start with the easy questions before embarking on solving complicated ones to avoid confusion since it will build my confidence in approaching any problem.

Nevertheless, answering correctly one question is not enough for one to say he has mastered the concept. Instead, she suggested that I should work on dozen similar problems before moving to the next section. Another crucial point she mentioned was on avoiding mapping out a path from problem to answer but instead note something down. The professor lamented that most students solve the problem with their mind without writing something down, which give them answers without actually internalizing and conceptualizing what the question entails. In other words, she advised me to write down the order and then begin solving it one step at a time without disregarding even the straightforward things. Lastly, she emphasized that it is more profitable to work with another student since they can reinforce each other especially if a question is complicated and requires deeper analysis.
