Annotated Bibliography

Chew, Robin. “Napoleon Bonaparte: Emperor of the French 1769 – 1821.” LucidCafé Library.             http://www.lucidcafe.com/library/95aug/napoleon.html.

While this is a relatively brief source it, none- the- less, provides ample background into the history of one of France’s most notorious political leaders. While the only secondary source it utilizes is one from which a quote was drawn, it sufficiently sums up the views of Bonaparte in regards to his career. Overall, this is a good source, but not as reliable as, for example, an academic journal that has been peer reviewed with references; still, a good supplemental source for any information.

Helle, Jani. “Napoleon Bonaparte: His Successes and Failures.” JaniHelle.com.             http://janihelle.wordpress.com/2007/02/08/napoleon-bonaparte-his-successes-and-failures/

While this is a blog, this is also a paper that has been submitted on Napoleon Bonaparte for a history class. While the author owns to the fact that there are multiple sources that have been used for the paper, they also make claim that it was a essay for high school. Regardless, this paper gives insight to basic history, and after all, no researcher can really start anywhere without having at least a basic concept of the topic. As such, it is imperative to gather back ground information so that deeper perspective can be gained and so, ultimately, this is a useful source.

Moore, Richard. “Napoleonic Guide.” NapoleonGuide.com. http://www.napoleonguide.com/leaders_napoleon.htm

Using this entire site as a source, one would be hard pressed to find more thorough research. With massive amounts of information, ranging from personal notes to overviews of every major battle witnessed by Bonaparte, this is an excellent resource for any research. Using both primary and secondary sources, this website has truly provided in- depth coverage on most every detail of Napoleon Bonaparte’s life. The one criticism to be found is that it appears to try a conspiracy tilt on Napoleon’s death, and as such lends an air of discredit towards the rest. Regardless, the information can be backed up by references and personal contact with the author; very useful.

“Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 – 1821).” BBC – History. http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/bonaparte_napoleon.shtml

This source is an excellent piece for research on Napoleon Bonaparte. The BBC in the UK is well known for its historical accuracy and research. While this particular article is not particularly referenced, reliability can be well- assumed due to the prestige of the institution. This article gives a thorough background on the history of this political figure, from his early education to his final death.

Stolyarov II, G. “The Accomplishments and Legacy of Napoleon Bonaparte.” Associated   Content. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/272165/the_accomplishment _and_legacy_of_napoleon.html

Though this article is laced with some personal opinions, the facts are sound. While the information has begun to become a bit repetitive, the facts found within this work are well supported by all of the other sources, as such making it a viable research option. Although the site is not one of the more famed historical web sites to be found on the internet, there is a great deal of perspective to be found within the words.
