Essay

It was such a wonderful concert. I was delighted to read on our local newspaper that New Bedford Symphony Orchestra concert was to take place at the New Bedford’s Zeiterion Performing Arts Center. The main reason why I could not afford to miss this concert was that the main artist, Harpsichordist Paul Cienniwa, is one of the musicians I have always admired. I have been looking forward to watch him perform live. Featuring in this show were New Bedford

Symphony Orchestra, Michael Daugherty and the guest artist was Harpsichordist Paul Cienniwa. The performance was so lively, and I enjoyed every second of it.

New Bedford Symphony Orchestra Concert:15th, April, 2012 8pm

The place

This concert took place on April 15th in New Bedford’s Zeiterion Performing Arts Center. This hall is surrounded by the Bedford Station which is the heart of music for the Bedford community.

Immediate surroundings of the Zeiterion Center are the famous Whaling and New Bedford City Hall. In this hall, there are many music stores and cultural bars. This theater was opened in 1923 and was called State Theatre. At that time, it had 1,226 seats. It maintained the name until 1950 when it was changed to Zeitorion Theatre. The interior decoration of this theatre is modern and classical. All the seats in this hall are permanent. The choice of color used in the interior design fits perfectly for the acts. It is designed in a way to enable all people present to easily view the performance.

The architecture of the hall is not modern but is classical and can be compared with the modern buildings. Tickets are required, but there is little fee paid in the acquisition. Therefore, it is a good place to host concerts and music. Also, hosted in the hall are movies and operas. The decorations are pleasant for performances, and the people find it favorable for movie views. The sound system is also controllable in the hall through the classical way. There is no doubt that this hall is one of the best places to attend concerts.

People

In the company of my cousin Maximilian, we attended the show that took place late in the evening. I had not attended such an event and could not go alone as I had fear of being lonely there. We went in casual wear as we thought such an event, taking place on a weekend would not require official wear. Besides, being a music event, official wear could not be necessary. On arrival at the Zeitorian Arts Center, we were amazed to find out that there was no specific dressing code for the audience. Most people were in their weekend wear except the officials and the performers. Requirements for performances were observed. For example, it was a requirement that phones be switched off before performance started. Foods were also not allowed into the hall, and nobody was allowed to leave the hall until the performance was over. This could be to accord the respect required to the performers. When the performers came in, the audience stood up to clap for them. This was a sign of love all the people present had towards the performers. Many people were present, which I believe was because of the wonderful performance expected from the artists present.

New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is among the famous orchestras in the world. It was founded in 1915 by Clarence Arey and consists of up to 80 professional musicians. Arey is a gifted musician whose work has been heard for many years. He has devoted his time to educate upcoming musicians and to offer classical performance to his community. NBSO is one of the best performers, and they keep the heart of music.

Music

The concert was opened with Michael Daugherty’s “Sunset Strip.” This is such a wonderful tune as the artist is one of the best performers and his music is being played almost all over America compared to other artists of his generation. The tune could move the minds of the listeners as it includes the past, present and future generations. His music is one of the best among many of the present generations. He sings without fear and his composition songs are wonderful. This song began in a low tone with the band playing according to the rhythm. The guest artist, Paul Cienniwa performed Francis Poulenc’s concert named chametre for Harpsichord. This was acted as a music dialogue between the soloist and the orchestra. This was a fabulous performance that started with slow motion and ended in the maximum with the people present joined in with the body movements. I could not help but join them as I was moved by the performance. Paul performs as an expert and his work is just perfect. The evening was closed with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in F Major. This is the latest work of Beethoven and is just fine. The Beethoven show began with joyous energy and bright and themes. This is an example of the greatest work of the Beethoven that we often do not see.

This show revived my spirit of researching the great music performed by Paul Cienniwa that I will not stop listening to. Though it did not include the most recent hits, it was just a perfect show that portrayed the famous music. With this, I realized that music will never be stopped and is part and parcel of life.
