Currently, despite the ability of people living under the same planet, people live different lives in different levels, the rich, medium class, and the poor. Unfortunately, the poor are the ones facing hardship in that they always feel the pinch of life. For instance, poor countries are prone to chronic diseases, which affect them a whopping deal. Here, is an illustration on how poor countries are fighting HIV. It is a recent article from New York Times newspaper bearing the heading: New H.I.V. Cases Falling in Some Poor Nations, but Treatment Still Lags.
According to the research done early last month, it revealed that new HIV infections had dropped by a half. The research was done specifically on the middle class and poor people who were mainly Africa. On Tuesday, the United Nations announced that the continent is hardest hit by HIV/AIDS.
Management
Frankly, preventing mother-baby infections was the greatest achievement. Further, the focused treatment on vulnerable people as prostitutes, gays and drug addicts also portrayed a positive step, affirms Sidibe M. Despite the above, the annual report confirms that the process will be fruitful, but in slow and steady manner, therefore, the above calls for patient. Statistically, 1.4 people received lifesaving treatment and 2.5 million people became infected worldwide last year. Notably, money is one of the biggest issues that have caused the sluggish victory on the fight against HIV according to W. Mitchell (Friedman 125). Despite the tremendous effort made by government on HIV control and management the peak is yet to be achieved. The AIDS advocacy squad that strives for AIDS prevention analyzed this report precisely and further revealed that the core barrier is money. This article clearly stipulates how lack of sufficient funds can be deterrent to the attainment of the organization’s intended goals. This is a clear indication that the success of every project in an organization warrants adequate funding for its management.
Obviously, not all regions of the world are at the same level when it comes to HIV infections. Therefore, it is noted that parts such as the Middle East, central Asia, and Easter Europe are worse in HIV infections as compared to Caribbean and South Africa. The notion that HIV is being controlled comes in when the statistic of the infected was analyzed and compared to the previous years. Thus, it is true that currently there is 22 percent drop compared to 2001 when infected persons were 3.1 million.
Controlling
To control the spread of HIV effectively, it is necessary to get well-wishers as to assist the core promoter, Global funds for combating AIDS. In addition, the Presidents Emergency funds for domestic purpose should be incorporated to ensure the complete eradication of the disease. In 2000s and last year, the money channeled in by the above body, amounted to $16.8 billion, but currently the amount will increase to $24 billion a year. Therefore, for effective control of the HIV, sufficient funding is a determinant factor.
In addition, a person who happens in one way or another to fall victim of HIV should take drugs early and regularly. This is because of research by Massachusetts General Hospital. Further, the research reveals that if patients start to initiate treatment early, they can stop to take drugs and keep the virus under control. This is possible since their immune system will be strong enough to continue with the fight. It is notable that, the research was done in September 28, where eight patients were put under test and proved positive. Despite the varying results, the patients received a temporal suppression for several months. Currently, after several months, still five of the participants are off the drugs and are doing well. Amusingly, this is the first time, that the idea to manipulate the immune system with an aim to fight effectively for HIV is proved possible.
New York Times News paper goes ahead to point that, there are criminalized behaviors that cause the spread of HIV wildly. For instance, homosexuality, bisexuals and gays as well as drug addicts are some of the pointed out method in the report that this propels the spread of HIV. Therefore, the control as an aspect of management is necessary in this case in the sense that the rampant spread of this deadly disease effectively is necessary to establish the cause. Certain cultures should be abolished, for instance, treatment method like the one methadone should be declared illegal. In Eastern Europe and central Asia, heroin is the main cause of HIV infections; therefore, the government should host many educational seminars to elaborate on the same. In addition, when patient are on medication, it is worth to realize that they can be less infectious by 96 percent. Therefore, the treatment offered on the people who are suffering from AIDs has tremendously helped. In this regard, we should emulate Ethiopian government by recruiting 35,000 health workers in communities, to educate people on how to protect themselves.
According to the organization managed by Mr.Warre, it is evident that the choice of preventing HIV has expanded from the obvious use of condom, abstinence from sex, and faithfulness to one partner. In this regard, it is evident that other methods of managing the spread of HIV/AIDS warrant application. These include circumcision, which on a wide range helps prevent the rapid spread of HIV by almost 60 percent. Other relevant methods stated by the newspaper are the use of virginal microbicides for women and the use of daily prophylactic pills. However, this are some of the methods recommended in the report, that is, it is necessary to be put in practice the above so that HIV epidemics may cease. Lastly, the report concluded by the warning, each country to choose a method, which is relevant to its epidemics.
Leading
Since research center at the MGH, are responsible in managing and controlling HIV, they have positively embraced the position, and they have put it in practice. First, they are concerned in doing research on how to manage the disease as in: advising patients to diagnose for HIV and start early treatment. This depicts a very important aspect of management, which prompts the management to play vital role in the initiation of alternative methods of curbing the encroaching situation. In this regard, they have successfully analyzed how the immune system can fight the disease after the commencement of early medication (Ellen 254). They offer expert advice on how to manage HIV patients, who are taking HAART, should stick to medication. To be precise the above is an example of moral leadership in not only managing, but also controlling and leading skills of management. Moreover, article again appealed to the Global Aids fund to take the lead and avoid the impediments that will make the fight against HIV to stumble. In this case, the core purpose of management in leading is clearly outlined. It is the prerogative of every management team of an organization to lead and provide direction to the organization.
By concluding, it is pertinent to realize that the article analyses the principle of management in detail. The aspect of leading controlling as well as planning is well elaborated. In this case, all people who are either affected or rather infected with the disease should follow this detailed article to minimize the severity of the disease in their body. My plea to the entire world is to advice them to avoid unpleasing habits that will in future bring about regrets, and I further urge them to embrace change. The article clearly shows that in order to realize the mission, core objectives, and the ultimate vision of the organization, the four functions of management should be well coordinated.
