As a safety training instructor, what information would you use on instructing supervisors how to build a hearing loss prevention program for their jobsite? What administrative controls would you use in order to ensure the prevention program is kept running? How would you make sure that employees are trained to use hearing protection devices?
A safety training instructor is basically concerned about giving the learning individuals a proper understanding of what safety is all about specifically related to their field of work. Engineers and technologists specifically need to deal with hazardous operations that are directed towards making sure that their projects are completed on time and with high quality as expected. This is the reason why when undergoing work areas where high sound waves are involved, it is important that the said individuals are warned and equipped as properly as needed.
This is the reason why safety training instructors should provide a clear pattern of cause and effect list of events that could identify how work practices of the team members or employees he is aiming to train should be affected by the new safety procedures he would like to suggest. Policies of the organization regarding the utilization of hearing protection equipments should be checked accordingly and should be realigned to ensure proper implementation at work. Strict regulations regarding the matter should b applied as well. Supervisors ought to be directed on implementing such procedures as religiously as possible. Doing so shall involve proper orientation of the supervisors as well, giving them an idea as to how important the said policies are.
List the factors that determine the severity of a chemical burn. Explain the hazards of chemical burns besides tissue damage. What should you, as a supervisor, do if an employee splashes caustic chemicals on himself or herself?
The nature of the chemical that burned the skin: How was the burn incurred? This factor intends to determine the process that took over when the burn developed. It could be understood that it is through this determination of events that the condition of the burn could be noted. It shall also determine the commonality of the situations that could involve other employees as well.
Concentration of the chemical mixture: this factor tries to instantiate an indication on which particular chemicals were actually in the mixture to be able to specifically determine how they could cause the burn and how much severe the damages could be.
Duration of the contact towards the chemical: how long was the individual exposed to the chemical;? This will help identify what possible damages have already been incurred in relation to the length of time that the individual has been in contact with the substance.
Skin reaction which constitutes the burn: what specific manifestations show the indication of burns caused by the chemical? This part of the investigation on the situation shall help define where the reaction actually took place and what first-aid operations should be considered to resolve the issues involved.
When such events happen, immediate interview on the individual affected should be considered to be able to get all the necessary information needed to be noted in relation to the situation being resolved. During the interview, protocol first aid operations should be applied before bringing the employee to the clinic or a healthcare facility for further detailed medical attention.
Explain Dalton’s law of partial pressure. Does water vapor conform to Dalton’s law? What are some other sources of pressure hazards? How are they created?
Px = partial pressure of gas x PTotal = total pressure of all gases nx = number of moles of gas x nTotal = number of moles of all gases This relationship applies to ideal gases, but can be used in real gases with very little error.
Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressures specifically provide an indication on the fact that partial pressures of component gasses amount to the sum of the total pressure produced from the mixture of gases. Knowing this information shall provide a distinct indication on what particular pressures could result to distinct damages to the body when individuals are exposed to it.
Water vapor also applies to the same law as it also could accumulate pressure through environmental confinement and mixture with other gasses in the environment. It could be understood that somehow, with such type of consideration on the pressure levels of gasses present in a particular environment, employees ought to be given the proper protection they need form being highly put into damaging situations that involve such conditions.
Mismanaged pressures within a work area where workers are supposed to stay in specifically impact the health status of the employees especially if they become subjected the said environments for a repeated length of time. Hence, protection through awareness campaign should be pursued especially on the part of the supervisors and the employers of the companies involved.
List and describe five strategies for establishing an effective electrical safety program. Why is it important for safety personnel to help employees and supervisors conducting self-assessments with regards to their own safety practices?
- Identification and recognition of hazards relating to the work considered within a facility and the people working in it.
- Maintenance and de-energizing of equipments before electrical works begin
- Identification of affected or parties involved in the situation
- Provision of awareness orientation for new and unknowing workers in the facility
- Documentation of situational events occurring related to electrical safety
These conditions of knowing the basic ground the instantiates the dictation of the way employees are protected from possible electrical damages shall better provide a distinct indication on how people are supposed to be given attention to. Self-awareness on safety operations are then to be motivated among each and every individual working in the company thus making them more knowledgeable of the matters they should look out for especially in relation to their direct involvement with electrical operations.
Employees who are given practical understanding of their situation and are given the clear picture of what they should expect regarding the risks they are to meet with at work are usually better protected due to intellectual enthusiasm. Most often than not, it is through the establishment of this personal culture that employees become highly able to avoid considerable dangers within their worksites.
Outline and describe some examples of the most common types of mechanical injury hazards. Explain how safeguarding can assist in preventing these mechanical injury hazards.
The types of the basic machine hazards employees could incur are categorized in two specific divisions. For motion, the common hazards include rotating, reciprocating and transversing. For actions divisions, the hazards could include cutting, punching, shearing and bending. The basic rule though is that when individuals are supposed to work with machines, it is important that they become highly knowledgeable of the machines that they work on.
They should be able to identify probable causes of danger against them and their work safety. Knowing their machines well shall allow them a better sense of becoming more aware of avoiding particular situations that could cause injure them. Safeguarding machines is another essential factor that supervisors should be able to imply. Regularly checking the machines and making sure that their parts are safeguarded could improve the quality of employee safety policies that the company implies to be able to protect their workers accordingly. Likely, it is through this approach that the health status of the employees is assured for positive assessment and the people themselves are given the proper assistance in becoming more aware of their responsibilities at work which includes keeping themselves safe through following particular safety policies of the organization.
