What did you think of the movie? Were you surprised by the content of the film?

It was an alarming presentation of fact about the decline of population [especially in the most urbanized locations in the world]. Before this documentary, I was not aware of the said issue at all; I actually thought that the population was growing accordingly all over the globe.

Were you aware that the population was declining?

I was not. Based on media commentaries, I thought that the population around the globe was increasing.

Were you aware that the entire population of the world can fit into the state of Texas?

I heard about it but did not realize its reality until this point.

Why do you think people are having less children?

With more opportunities offered to them based on leading great careers, more would rather spend their time at work than with their families or in relationships [while actually planning having children].

What do you think is going to happen to social security and Medicare?

The imbalance would occur especially that more older individuals are growing without caregivers; hence increasing financial and medical pressure on government provisions specifically dedicated to hospice care.

Why do you think richer people want less children? When they can actually afford them?

They want to spend more time living their lives and getting the best out of what they earn through personally responding to their individual desires.

What does gender equality have to do with the demographic winter? What changed with the sexual revolution?

Women are more focused on career; hence are giving less attention to motherhood. Some even take note of the idea that such occurrence among women getting married is a waste of time compared to those who give more time to master their careers.

What does the divorce revolution have to do with the decline in population?

The more divorce culture improves, the less possibilities there are in relation to people or couples having any more children.

What do you think of the connection between divorce and a higher carbon footprint?

The more homes are produced for separate families which double the consumption of energy and other resources which increase carbon footprint.

Do you think this is a political issue? A moral issue? A religious issue?

This is more of a social issue. The norms established alongside the occurrence of increased liberalization among highly urbanized nations have changed the overall perception of the human society towards family and rearing children.

Do you think it’s too late to turn it around?

Not yet. Strengthening family ties is one aspect that could solve the problem. Although, it would need extreme concentration that would basically enable people to see the real value of having children and rearing stronger family ties.

What do you think about the suggestion thrown out toward the end of the movie to return to a patriarchal society?

It was a distinct call for attention, especially for fathers to work further in keeping their families stronger and their wives as well as their children more satisfied.

What do you think we need to do as a society to ensure our futures?

It is important to reestablish family structure that is based on love, respect, patience and a definite distinction on how the world itself perceives the familial unit as the base source of social strength.
