It is early in the morning time for Jaytech Johnston, he put a single rose on the grave and stand there to see it again and again. He say prayers and walked away to his car and got in and drive it home. He was a tall guy with black hair, and he keep it cut so short. He like it that way. He will looks in the mirror at his self and sometimes he is lost in what he sees in the mirror like he do not recognize his own face. A tear cries from his eye. So he washes his face and feels like taking a nap so he goes to the bed to sleep a while. While he sleeping in the bed he has a dream and the dream is not comfortable for him. He toss and turning in the bed. He sweats and he starts to holding his breath. He cannot breathe. He screams and wakes up from the sleeping. It is the same old dream again and again keep coming to him when he is in the sleeping. Why does it keep coming back? He wants to know but has no time to think because he is late for his class now.

Jaytech jumps up from the bed his self, and eats one bite of a sandwich and drink a big sip of his drink and out the door he goes. To his car he gets in and drive away to school at the college where he goes. When he is there, he got out of the car and he hears a voice say something to his mind, or is it a real person talking at him?

“Jaytech!” the voice talks.

He looks around and sees his friend, Lisa.

“Hi Lisa.” He says to her and he smiles at her. He likes her, he always has liked her. She is beautiful and kind and fun to talk to. She is a tall girl, almost with the tall as him. She has long, red like hair and she wears red lipstick and pretty dresses. She is smart in the school too. They walk to class by each other.

After class, Lisa and Jaytech walk to the courtyard and talk together. They laugh at jokes and talk about a lot. Then Jaytech ask Lisa question.

“Lisa, do you have bad sleeping sometimes?” he asked.

“What do you mean bad sleeping?” she asked him back.

“I mean do you sometimes be sleeping and have bad dreams and nightmare sleep, that scares you? He explained.

Lisa looks to him and is concerned. Then she thinks a second and she talks.

“Well, sometimes I have bad dreams. But they just dreams I know so I don’t get really scared at them.” She looks at him but he stares into space. She talks again. “Are you all right there Jay?”

Jaytech come back to life from staring and looking away and tell her he’s ok, but he had to go now and he will see her tomorrow. They hug and said good bye.

His phone ring and ring and when he finally finds it in his car he said hello. It was his father. He needed Jaytech to come over and help him with his therapy. His father had to do therapy a lot of time for his legs. He was ill with the arthritis. So Jaytech goes to help the father and listen to his stories – again.

His father always told the stories to him. They are close. Before he was 10 years old, his family was very harmonious. His father worked in a factory. Even when his father was tired and busy, he never admitted defeat. When Jay wanted some snack or chocolate his father also said, “Listen boy, I have plenty of money, and you can buy what ever you want.” In fact, his mom did not have any job, but doing some handicraft often. Even thought they are not rich people with the difficulties of their life, but he was full of warm with his family. After he was 10, that all changed because his father likes smoking, drinking and gambling. His father always drank beginning in the morning and he was always drunk just lying in the house and sleep. But then he don’t know why when he was drunk his father be a crazy, threw things to his mom, even hit her, so one day his mom abandoned him then go away and he was really disappointed and hurt. He has to take care of his dad and needs to make money by himself. His father is still drinking and always has anger and scold his mom and call her a bitch. She ran with away with someone. Jaytech is really with frustrations and he missed his mom all those years ago. That was 10 years ago.

When Jaytech got a note that he was in admission to the university. That time he saw his mom again. He was really sad but hated her for leaving him. He saw her but told her his feelings and she cry and left again. He didn’t tell her how he loved her, even with the hate. This was 6 months ago when he got to go to college at first. Last week, he got a call that she died and came to see him to say about her illness but didn’t. Jaytech realized now why she had to leave him those years ago and hate his self now and dreams a nightmare about a hurt bird who fly away and come back for shelter but he kicks the bird in the dream and bird falls from a window in the high up building and dies on the walk, but the blood is on his shoe that soaks through to his foot and burns his foot off. This when he keeps waking up. He is so sorry he didn’t talk to his mother before she died. He leaves a rose on her grave place every week and talks to her. One day he takes Lisa, his friend, to grave and tells her about the dream and what happened with his mom. Lisa understanding. She tells Jaytech it not his fault about his mothers death and that he got to forgive himself and then the dream will go away. She kiss his lips and put the rose on the grave for him. That night, Jaytech was afraid to have the dream and go to sleep but he fell asleep after trying not to sleep. The next thing he see is the sunlight. He woke up and noticed he did not have nightmares in the time at night. The dream never return to him. He was ok, indeed.
